Game wont open on Steam

So after a long time not played it i wanted to play it again so i reinstalled it started the game and it was in small window so i went to options ticked Full screen and to 1280 1024 res and clicked apply after that my screen went black and froze up so i restarted my pc and clicked again run this game....but this time it did not start the game i tried reinstalling the game 2 times , i reinstalled steam , i deleted in regedit Valve stuff and deleted all library reinstalled steam completely fresh downloaded impire again and started it up and it still does not want to start the game for me!! plz someone help me so i can play this game again!

Here's something that worked for me: Go to the place where its installed and find the exe. rightclick -> properties -> compatibility. if you are on win 10 run the test. for me it recommended to set it to windows 8. now it seems to work, though I havent spent much time ingame yet.
