Some decent damage combo?
Hey guys, I just downloaded the game and I have no idea what I'm supposed to do. I just run around and spam my buttons and hope something cool happens. Anyway, the question is what are some good damage combos that I could abuse on lowbies because right now my opponents are as ♥♥♥♥♥♥ as me. I started going into the earth tree at the mastery page if that helps. Oh and I tried this rock projectile into frozen target thing (shatter?) I saw on some video but that didn't work, did it get patched or smth?

Heyo.

I recommend you take a look at some of the guides in the Guides section and learn how to piece together the basic spells and learn how to defend yourself. I recently released my own Beginner's Guide to Magicka Wizard Wars which you can check out, and there is many others too which might explain more about combos than mine, but getting the basics down is good too.

If you want to go with +Rock, bare in mind that it is also -Lightning for balance reasons, So learning how to deal with Lightning based attacks is good so you don't get the extra damage from it. (See storms & wards sections in my guide, or any similar section in other guides.)

As for the shattering thing, rocks require charging for a long(ish) period of time shown by the bar that appears below your health bar. If charged enough they can shatter Frozen enemies if they do enough damage, however other players with +Rock can be immune to shattering as they require even more rock damage to shatter.

A good combo for beginners is ssf. Death fire beam, only shoot it for a few seconds because most decent player block. As a beginner you should concentrate on using the beam for a few seconds, then charging a rock to follow up. So on an attack i will do SSF for a few seconds then DDD charge that till the white bar goes white then shoot it. Then follow up with a spray like a FFF or a RRR.
Those are some attack but i would go with cyans suggestion first and learn how to protect yourself with wards and blocks.

that was a very nice guide cyan, i think the picture near the mines section is a very important one to learn, healing wall with the healing mines, its a bursts heal.

Yeah, that's a pretty useful combo of spells for healing.

There's also the Death mines combo which is shown in the other picture and is a good damage one: Walk up to opponent, ward !ESS, place death mines ESS, selfcast of some kind !SSF detonates the mines, since you warded against them they don't do damage to yourself, but will damage the opponent a lot.

The guide was really helpful for getting into the game but I couldn't find any specific damage combos D:

thats because you need to get in there and start trying them out. Once you get to a level of medicoreness you will realize you need to use all the attacks because you end up in certain situations. I see some players have really strong attack combos using lighting, other really good players i see barely even use lighting. This game is kind of like learning how to play guitar.(bit easier) You need to gain muscle memory in your fingers. Play and you will eventually be tapping out defesnive spells and attacking in unison.

ay m8 hot profile pic, for that i'll give you some useful combos. Also your name implies you might be swedish. amirite? if so, add me bbz ;)

Maebus you're right in that you should use all kinds of attacks/elements, however that doesn't mean there aren't any useful combos - you shouldn't just use one element/attack at a time since that's easily countered by any fairly decent opponent - and that's probably one of the biggest differences between low level and higher level players. When I teach players to wizurd, I usually teach them a few basics - I basically show off quite a few useful combos that can be used, and advice them to git the muscle memory for at least two of them (in training ground or by playing), and then they can slowly add more and more useful attacks/combos afterwards. Another good advice is to have some kind of go-to spell/combo - that you use while brainfarting or just hoping to wreak havoc or whatever.

Here are some combos that you could use but that might require some practice.(XYZ=Forward cast, (RMB) !XYZ=Self-cast, (XYZ)=optional to use it, XYZ/ABC = optional which one to use)
1) (!DSF/!DDF) + !ESS + ESS + !SSF/!QSF/!SSR
- My go-to, probably one of the most effective combos in game still. Basically you place mines and activate them with a nova that also deals quite a lot of damage if the enemy is in range of it. For extra damage and to make sure that the opponent really does get damaged before he wards (if he's not relly fast at warding after the knockdown) the knockdown can be used in the beginning. What nova you use to activate the mines is situational, but learn a combo and use it, and when you feel comfortable using it in pressed situations without thinking, you can switch it up a bit.

2) (!DSF/!DDF) + ESS -> backpedal (click straight behind you and aim back at the wizard you're facing without clicking) + FFF
OR
(!DSR/!DDR) + ESS/ESR -> backpedal + RRR

Basically the mines are a great way of dealing damage. If they ward the chilling/burning they'll take mine damage etc.

3) !DSQ/DDS/DDQ + EAR/EAA -> backpedal + SSQ+QQF
You knock someobdy down, place a storm on the person, backpedal while using a beam aimed on him - the reapplying of water will make it stronk, combined with beam even stronger. Steam can also be used but then you don't back off as much.

4) !ERX +EDR+ !QQQ
Ward frost, place a frost wall, activate itwith water. If you trap the enemy between you and the wall he'll instafreeze. This can be followed up by either nr.3 above or a rock shatter. Practice how charged the rock needs to be on Timmy in training ground. You can also try ESR instead, but might need to follow up with a !RRR.

(!SDF) + QEF + SSF/QFF/SSR
As i said the storm + beam/spray combos are stronk, just learn some.

6) Pretty much anything you follow up with !ASF or !ASR if close range.
