mp doesn't work

my friend and I have been trying to play together for a while but we can't get it to work, simply put, when we attempt to join each other, we get a screen in which we can't click on anything, and my friend's name doesn't appear either so it's like I haven't connected to him

Same. The games connect; but, neither the check box to start the match, nor the character selection works for Player-2; as well as the "Start" button for Player-1 (which is likely tied to the aforementioned issue).

I didn't pay anything for the game... However, I still feel I'm owed for the few hours spent trying to get it to work 😒
