Mixer Pass Through

If you're making something like apple juice, I did the thing of putting a storage in between the apples and the mixer thinking the extra would build up in the storage but they don't they just shoot through the machine into a pile, is there a setting on the machine or somewhere that prevents the pass through? Thanks for any help
