A lot folks underestimate how good a simple layout game like this is. It's very relaxed, focusing on combo building and slowly growing a town. It doesn't have the annoying bits that some of the other city developers do where nothing happens until you figure out how to get things going. What's nice is that a well designed city LOOKS like a well designed city, not some let-me-build-5-of-these-to-stack-bonuses. It doesn't have as many bells and whistles as later games, but it also has less frustration. Very Zen and relaxed.

I love this game; it's a good example of a city builder that does not need to be unnecessarily complicated to be enjoyable. It's fun to try figuring out how to unlock more things, different building combos, and a way to maximise your scores to reach that #1 ranking. I also like the pixel art Kairosoft games have; it's nice to look at and has a certain retro charm to it, which I personally find very appealing.


Overall, it's a good city-building and management game that's relaxing, quite simple, and fun.

- Price for an old game is high (For the game time there are better games out there for your buck).
- Tutorial is brief and may be challenging to new players (A walkthrough wiki is available online for players if needed, go search for it, its well done)

I would still recommend this title as its among the best in the franchise for anyone wishing to try what the game offering from Kairosoft for sure.

Oh! Edo Towns has an amazing Edo Centurary Japanese setting, but there are some issues that bog the pacing and in turn the title suffers from being as great as Kairosofts diverse library. The biggest issue I found with the game is that it is mind-numbingly easy, even with me trying to deliberately run out of funds by placing large amounts of buildings as soon as I started a run, I never even got close to running out of funds. There also just isn't a large amount of content to the game, so must content is unlocked really quickly, it almost feels like playing sims with unlimited money codes. This game will appeal to you more if you just like laying out towns and cities rather than managing the inhabitants themselves. The game design is super charming, music is solid and it has a fantastic coherent setting that overall isn't a bad title, but the lack of gameplay and things to do make this appeal fizz out quicker compared to other Kairosoft titles. I rate this game 5/10.

One of my favorites by this company. It has a learning curve for managing your money and placing buildings in the right locations but after you get the hang of that, it's quite fun. All their games are very affordable and never let me down.

Furthermore the game doesnt seem able to decide if it wants to be played only with mouse or keyboard. Quite awkward and glitchy controls
