Try this:
  • Flashing/Flickering while playing game - PCGamingWiki[www.pcgamingwiki.com]:
    Delete or rename
    systemdetection.dll
    in the
    <path-to-game>\

See here[www.pcgamingwiki.com] on how to navigate to "<path-to-game>".

For example, If installed on your C:\ drive, it would be here:
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Assassin's Creed Revelations

However, if deleting or renaming that file doesn't work, try these if possible:
  1. Try making sure the base game is installed on an SSD.

  2. Try setting the CPU affinity so the game only uses one or two cores (the Ezio trilogy have known issues with CPU affinity, as detailed here and on PCGamingWiki[www.pcgamingwiki.com]):
    1. Launch Assassin's Creed Revelations.

    2. Once the game has opened, switch back to the Windows desktop using Alt + Tab.

    3. Open Task Manager (can use Ctrl + Shift + Esc).

    4. Click the Details tab, and then right-click ACRSP.exe, and then click Set affinity.

    5. In the Processor affinity window that opens, uncheck all of the CPU cores until you just have CPU 0.

    6. Click OK to confirm the changes.

    7. Switch back to Assassin's Creed Revelations and test playing.

    8. If crashes still persist, retry steps 1 to 6, except make sure that the you have CPU 0 and CPU 1 selected in step 5.

Then proceed to step 7 (i.e. test the game again).

If this has no effect, simply reverse the changes you made (i.e. make sure all the CPU affinity checkboxes are selected so that all of your CPU cores can be used).

Also see this post for an alternative fix regarding setting CPU affinity. It's a confirmed fix for Brotherhood so might work for Revelations; it simply involves enabling all the CPU cores after having confirmed 1 core. Adapt the instructions for the Revelations executable (ACRSP.exe) where it mentions the Brotherhood executable (ACBSP.exe).

  3. Disabling V-sync might have an effect. If you still have issues, check these two posts below on a potential fix. This fix applies for AC2, ACB, ACR and AC3:
    1. Low fps and stutter on high end pc :: Assassin's Creed II General Discussions - post 6
    2. Low fps and stutter on high end pc :: Assassin's Creed II General Discussions - post 8

  4. Not sure if this will work, as it's actually a potential performance fix for Assassin's Creed 1, but maybe worth a shot if nothing else is working.

    See this excerpt from PCGamingWiki[www.pcgamingwiki.com]:
Enable Low Latency Mode via Nvidia Control Panel or similar

    For Nvidia GPUs:
    1. Right-click the desktop, and then click Nvidia Control Panel.

    2. Open the Manage 3D settings screen (refer to this help article[www.nvidia.com]).

    3. In the Manage 3D settings screen, under the Global Settings tab, set the Low Latency Mode option to On or Ultra (may need to try both for best effect).

Alternatively, click the Program Settings tab, click the Add button, add Assassin's Creed Revelations, and likewise set the Low Latency Mode option to On or Ultra, if you just want to tweak for Assassin's Creed Revelations.

See this help article[www.nvidia.com] on the features list in the Manage 3D settings screen.

    4. Click the Apply button.

    5. Launch Assassin's Creed Revelations and check if problem is resolved.

    For AMD GPUs:
    1. Right-click the desktop, and then click AMD Radeon Software.

    2. Refer to this help article[www.amd.com] on how to set low latency (see the Configuring GPU Performance > Memory Timing section).

    3. Launch Assassin's Creed Revelations and check if problem is resolved.
