Is this game (and all the other Assassins Creed games) a good PC port? if so then should I get the upcoming Assassins Creed III on Steam?

I'd say that all of the other Assassin's Creed games a pretty good ports. Haven't had any real problems with them from AC1 up to Brotherhood, though I did get some weird slowdown on Brotherhood on occasion after playing for awhile and I know you have to have a pretty good computer to take full advantage of the game. I'm currently having a weird lockup issue with AC: Revelations at the moment, though, so I'm reluctant to recommend it. Another thing to consider is that the multiplayer might be trickier to get into due to the anti-cheat system Ubisoft has in place. To date, I still haven't been able to do the multiplayer mode in Brotherhood because of PunkBuster and how finicky it is, despite following troubleshooting steps to help fix the problem.
I've had zero problems with the games (multiplayer included), so I'd say they're good ports.
There's a bit of consolitis in the menus, and some of the navigation puzzles are much easier to do with a controller than with mouse+keyboard, but there's nothing that really gets in the way of enjoying the game.

Hopefully AC3's PC port will be as good as or better than the other ports, so if you enjoyed the other games in the series, I think you should get it. I intend to.
The only noticable thing with the port of this series of games, is the quirky controls when using a mouse/keyboard setup. It can be addressed by using an X-Box controller, which feels a bit more fluid. That said, practice makes a big difference and the keyboard/mouse configuration is manageable.

The entire series of Assassin's Creed are very good. The story is nicely told and looks/feels believable. Historically there are a lot of things added, from our real-world eras, in the game. This includes locations, to famous people and definitely adds a huge amount of charm and intrigue into the series. It left me wanting more every time I finished a version.

Graphically, each one has advanced nicely and is eye-candied up for the PC port. The performance of the game engine is also very respectable, considering what the visual output is achieving.

There's lots to do in the game, being that it utilizes a sandbox format. The main plot is manageable as a tighter collection of missions, but is definitely more fun when the world's side-quests are included in the progression of the story. This approach will also unlock a lot of useful things to aid you in your gameplay.

A highly recommended collection of games and well worth beginning from Assassin's Creed - through to Revelations (in order).
