Random crashing problem
Please Help
While playing Assassin’s Creed Revelation my computer screen goes blank and the computer freezes the only way out of this is to restart the computer. The time take for the game to crash after starting varies from 5 minutes to 2 hours, and is averaging at about 30 minutes.
I have tried a lot of fixes and none of them have worked!!! I have tried:
Compatibility mode (Windows XP service pack 2)
Run as Administrator
Limiting the cores
Deleting file (systemdetection.dll)
Changing all graphics settings to min
Turning off all other software inc AV and firewall
Full System updates

My computer specs are
CPU: intel core 2 quad q6600 2.4GHz
RAM: 4GB
Grafics card: Nvida GeForce 9600gs
Nvida GeForce 9600gs (SLI disabled)
Monitor resolution: 1680x1050
Running: Windows Vista (32bit)

And I can run without problems AC, AC2 (with limited cores), ACB and AC3.

I have been trying to help Smeghead with ths problem. Which has started to affect other games (Skyrim).
Aditional steps to try and fix the problem include:
  • Flashing the BIOS to the latest version.
  • Cleaning the dust from the vents and heatsinks
  • swaping the graphics cards over so the passive card is now the main.
  • mem test on the ram (passed standard tests)
  • ran a prefromance moniter on the graphics cards (before swap) during play (all outputs where within tolarence).

To test the changes the game was run and it crashed within 10 minutes. So the problem is still there.
I am starting to suspect a faulty driver (directx?) in the system somewhere.

Differnet symptoms, when you say blue screen do you mean the BSoD with a stop code? Also the ati file you mentioned to you have the actual name of the file (eg d3dx11.dll)?

Do you have any ati parts in your computer (most likly a Radon graphics card)? if so it is probably the driver for them and should be fixable by reinstalling all ati drivers. If you don't, then run a virus scan.

I click play in the uplay interface and it goes to start then it says thank you for playing very annoying

I found the problem, it's uplay, it's screwed things over with the last update even if your games are on steam, uplay support is a joke and thier communication is lacking, i have had issues witrh FC3 AC3 and ACR for weeks now and still havn't had a resolution.

I found smeghead's problem. Her graphics cards are faulty! I have just swapped them with mine and the problem has moved to my computer, with the exact same symptoms. It seems one of her cards is worse then the other but both bad.
I have been advising her to upgrade them for over a year anyway. lol :D:
