Therefore, either try renaming or deleting the later mentioned file instead before all crazy Messing around with your PC's and programs overlays.
Furthermore, if you had been proactive searching or researching for a solution to this issue you would've seen at least a few threads containing that solution.
And that's my friendly advice when it comes to adressing the Ubi$oft's "Support" site[www.ubisoft.com], simply avoid it like the plague because most if the staff there is indoctrinated to sendo you chasing your own tail upon their sralling merry-go-round rollercoaster until most users simply wind giving up upon their righteous claims for something that should've been fixed years ago.
Side note: And most people are forgetting the eventuality that when Ubi$oft finally released all those Steam "Achievements" for their games that they accidentally, or not, may have added a few more bugs into those games on question. And that's mostly because most likely those "Achievements" patches made through Ubi' Con weren't made by the same people that had coded all those different games, particularly considering that Ubi$oft's near bankrupcy current state and related lay-offs that already started by shutting down their UK's studio and spending 185 people to the unemployment line[www.eurogamer.net].
Edit add note: Since when posted this was using my "Smartphone" decided to fetch some links to support what I've said.
Then why it was such a buggy mess with for example my Assassin's Creed: Liberation - HD's (AC:L - HD's) Steam "Achievements" not unlocking at all and a few days later when opening my Assassin's Creed III - Remastered it had some partial "Achievements" from all that I've got upon AC:L - HD upon Ubi' Con?
Let's face it, they tried to please the masses to get some extra income with that Public Relations (PR)/Marketing (Mkt) stunt gimmick and it ended up backfiring upon them on several fronts, as you can see from the several threads complaining about it upon all different AC's games upon their related Steam's forumms sections.

Until then it was in beta state I guess. You should've just waited a bit. I did and got them all at once.
Games themselves were not updated at all, you can easily check it with steamdb:

But hey... at least this one bug was a 1st time occurrence for me upon all these years.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3438491641
And as you full well know Steam DB[steamdb.info] isn't affiliated with Valve and thus not 100% relieable upon the info's dates that they get or when they get all the pertaining info' at all.
AC:L - HD update you're talking about was actually Ubisoft Connect installer update.
Here, let me show you.
https://steamdb.info/app/260210/depots/ - AC:L HD depots.
Depot 260211 is the actual game data. You can click on it and go to history section to see that its latest update was in 2023.
Now click on depot 1716751 which is a part of Ubisoft Connect PC Client https://steamdb.info/app/1716750/
Check its history, its latest update was on March 3, 2025 - that was your update.
BTW this setup package is included in lots of other Ubisoft games and if you had any of those installed you'd see them update too. Here's the list: https://steamdb.info/depot/1716751/apps/
Worked wonders.
Yeah no. At base minimum you should already be updating your drivers, and the concept of simply turning off overlays is not crazy at all, and is definitely a much easier and efficient fix than file diving anyhow. The only thing you are missing out on with turning off NVIDIA overlay is FPS tracking, which considering a HUGE amount of the crashes in this game are caused by exceeding 60 fps, You should likely limit the FPS Maximum allowed while playing this game.
Also, If you had been a little more proactive with your research, you would know ubisoft connect updates also send out steam updates for all related content on steam that requires ubi-con. simply having more than 1 ubi game installed would prove that obvious.
This was a simple fix post on an old, bad, port. Take your annoying criticism that no one asked for elsewhere, clown
Glad to hear, quick and easy. Good luck with your playthrough and bug fixing
