Wolfenstein: The New Order

Wolfenstein: The New Order

VRAM & Specs help
I have a low-spec computer with an Intel Pentium Processor G2020 and Intel HD graphics. It can run games such as The Evil Within and Betrayer, but they run very slowly.

While searching system requirements for Wolfenstein: The New Order, it seems really unclear as to what the minimum requirements are. It's mainly the VRAM, a lot of websites are saying it requires a minimum of 1 GB, but systemrequirementslab is telling me it requires a minimum of 512 MB, which is much better for my computer. I'm really interested in playing this game, and before buying it, I want to make sure my computer won't run it so slowly that it's almost unplayable.

Thanks!

Anyone? I'd really like to know before its sale ends.

Intel HD graphics already gives you an answer : No it won't run well even on minimum even if it could run.

Whenever you check if a game is "compatible" on the Intel website with some "popular games", their point of view of "compatible" means that it can run at 10 fps on minimal settings. To gives you an idea, to know what game can just run at 30 fps on medium-low with a Intel HD graphic card, take the year which it been released (you can get that info on the Intel website) and take back 9 years. Any games graphic intensive released after those 9 years prior could work, but with many problems including blue screens.

The reason is that the Intel HD graphics is making uses of your motherboard RAM capacity prior to its own VRAM capacity, rendering it useless whenever the amount of things in z-buffer (3rd dimension which is used by things like shaders) exceed something radically low. (Imagine... the latest Intel HD graphics have difficulty in rendering Minecraft with textures above 128x128 pixel since it's heavy z-buffering)

I find if I run most games on a low resolution like 600x800 I can get good FPS. Depends on if this game has that option. Even Betrayer has decent FPS on a low resolution.

I just bought the game for the black friday sale yesterday. installed it, tried playing it, and discovered that it is unplayable. the parts that DO render look like crap.

I don't know what the problem is. it mentioned to me that my graphics driver was not updated, so i updated it and it still is giving me horrible horrible lag making the game unplayable.

i doubt its my graphics card or my system in general because i am able to play games like starcraft II, dishonored, portal 2, bioshock infinite, and skyrim on max settings.

anyone have an idea on why the game is unplayable?

Since it's on sale again, I'd just like to know if I'm able to control its resolution. With games that require high specs, I'm able to run them with decent FPS on low resolutions.

Anyone? What are the resolution options?

now granted, this is using my 27" 1920x1080 monitor. there could be a few more resolutions (could) for those with higher res/multi monitor set ups.

I bought this because it was on sale and my specs are well above yours. It will not even start. Trust me....you will NOT be able to play this at all. I knew this was a possibility when I got it, but I have an upgrade on the way. BTW, Betrayer isn't all that intensive...though I am very surprised The Evil Within runs.

Again...This will not run slow - this will not run at all. You will get a fatal error and that is all. Available resolutions have zero to do with this.

Thanks! It seems the available resolutions don't go very low, so it's unclear as to whether or not I can have FPS good enough to at least make it playable. I have around 1.7 GB of VRAM, and systemlabrequirements says the minimum amount needed is 512 MB, but I'm constantly seeing threads saying it doesn't run well even on higher-spec computers.

forget about running the game smoothly with your pc. your cpu alone will make this game a choppy mess. and the graphics that come on your cpu are not even remotely capable of playing this game properly.
