Decent game but terrible engine
Why do some brilliant games have to use such terrible engines :(

Bethesda acquired Id not too long ago. They used Idtech5, an Id engine, to power Wolfenstein The New Order, an Id game.

Lol....Bethesda had plans to use the engine in a certain number of their projects. I believe 3 out of the 4 have already been released. Only one more game that will use this engine if that is the case. If they didn't use the engine they would be essentially tossing money in the furnace. They have to use it.

They are tossing their games into the bargain bin though in some ways, if this game wasn't so good then I would call it a game to get @75% off.

No they are not. If the game is good then it is good. It costs tons of money to acquire an engine like Idtech5. They are not going to waste their investment in it because some customers do not care for the engine. Like you said, the game is good. If you are having fun.... then you got a good game and it does not deserve to be in a bargain bin. Bargain bin games are typically made from old cruddy cheap engines and are priced accordingly because of that. Idtech5 is not a cheap or cruddy engine(regardless of your opinion)....it isn't the best engine but it is not bargain bin quality.

OPENGL based engines are crap compared to DX based ones like FROSTBITE

It's not a terrible engine. It's quite good, it just has some flaws. Just search for a few quick fixes and you will play the game with no issues - I"m having a blast on i3-3110m+nVidia GT 720m.

Wolfenstein on anything but an id Tech engine would be blasphemy. That said I do hope id Tech 6 improves on certain elements that 5 is poor at.

It's not a bad engine. Runs nice on my i5 3570K with P8Z77-V mobo and GTX 560. When you look at stuff on shelves though for example, it does give you that 'RAGE' look now and then.

Amazing game, amazing engine. 60fps smooth sailing, no stutter, GTX 750, i5 3330 and 8GB RAM. Fix your PC up dude!

i5 3570k and R9 290 so no thanks :)

Textures look like poo, FPS drops everywhere but the game is good so I don't mind but it could of been so much better.

Once I made some file tweaks the game ran with a smooth frame rate. You can do some research and do the same but that is not the engine...that is your computer.

I agree textures are not so great, but then again I am only playing on Medium so I cannot complain about that. As long as I keep moving, game looks great enough for me! If I were you, I'd lower down my settings to play smoother!
