BJ Blazkowicz is 49 years old for the latter portion of this game
He was born in 1911, when the life expectancy for men was around 50-51 years.

And he's still just going around killing guys with punches to the face

I could be wrong but I think you'll find that that included infant mortality, That REALLY screws with the averages. But yes, Blazkowicz is insane.

Well, the rest of the game is pretty true to life isn't it. Nazis on the moon, giant furnace fueled robots, lazer guns etc. Not to mention the sub-aquatic, underground Aladdin's cave built 'centuries ago' by a science cult as a sort of repository for their inventions. Yeah, pretty true to life, wouldn't you say?

You'd be surprised if you knew what really happened!

So because large numbers of the population got serious (mainly childhood) diseases when you reach a certain age you act like an 80 year of today or something?
It's more far fetched that he is still fit after being in the hospital for years than his age.

Yeah. Fourteen years in a chair should have made him unable to walk at all. Not just falling down once.

I just don't think most 49 year olds can recover instantly from being shot 1-2 times

But younger people can?

Yes, I would much sooner expect a young man to continue despite being shot rather than a dad of a college grad.
Lucas McCain Oct 27, 2014 @ 8:43am
"Continue despite being shot" isn't really the same as "recover instantly," but the point I was trying to make without beating you over the head with it was that it is a video game. It's not even a particularly realistic video game. You eat food to recover from being shot. You kill hundreds of well armed men by yourself. You can hit a person with a throwing knife in the ankle and they die instantly. You can somehow carry around a dozen guns and tons of ammo without being encumbered by them. Maybe just accept that the guy is a badass despite being middle-aged, or just accept it as another unrealistic aspect of this game. Either way, it seems odd to me that this, of all things, is what you find hard to believe about this game.

Well B.J has been through all kinds of crazy mystical and magical energies throughout Return To Castle Wolfenstein and Wolfenstein (2009), what's to say a side effect of all of those things isn't a prolonged life or a decrease in muscle/bone degredation, or simply the ability to take more punishment than the average human, I mean, the guy took shrapnel to the face, the fact that he wasn't dead to begin with and was able to live out 14 years in a hospital in the 1940's when medical treatment was far less advanced than now only adds to that theory. Such a reason would fit in fine with the rest of the franchise story.
