Wolfenstein: The New Order

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Why this game needs multiplayer
I want to be a Nazi

On a serious note however, even a co-op campaign multiplayer will add some replay value to the game and extend its life. I like wolfenstein but unless they plan to pull a Metro style SP experience (which was executed well for modern times with a relatively linear story), I don't think this game will have the name/appeal to audiences beyond those who know know about this game and its "history". Welcome to thoughts.

Games do not require MP to be good games. That idea has been perpetuated by the people who think every new CoD is good because they have MP and it has new perks and crap.

I remember a time when a SP FPS was given merit on its gameplay and story rather than if it had MP or not and if the MP was good or not.

I honestly would rather them work on making it an amazing game experience rather than a half assed game experience with a equally half assed multiplayer aspect. Honestly I have plenty of co-op/MP based games to play that will out class any SP game with MP any day, i.e. TF2. Why is TF2 better? Because the game itself is designed around being a team based FPS. Or a game like L4D where Co-op was the main design around the game.

Trying to force MP in a game obviously meant to be a SP game is stupid and the devs that do it need to be shot. Instead do like they did with Half Life 2 and have a seperate multiplayer game designed around it that way both can have the dedication needed.

All a matter of prefference. For me TF2 is a very weak game, even though I enjoyed TF: Classic a lot.
And I remember games with excellent Single and Multi player modes like Unreal 1 from 1998.
Titanfall is also MP only and I did not liked it at all. Several maps, just a few guns and 3 mechs with few weapons also... Call about lack of content. Thing where you can unlock most stuff in 2-3 hours.

On the other hand, having just single player does not guarantee a good game. Where the hell did that idea came from?

The whole topic is still pointless, let them do whatever they want. Let us judge after the poduct has been delivered.
No, this game does not need mulitplayer... not every FPS needs multiplayer.... I've enjoyed more FPS's playing single player than I have playing multiplayer.
I'd rather screw around in campaign and try to find secrets than find a corner to camp and see how many kills/how long I can sit there before someone kills me.

Not to mention the "community" that generally follows online play, IE: People that complain and are constantly calling one another hackers or any other insult your mind can think of.

And here is exactly why it dose not need a MP

id Tech 5 Engine = Bethesda Softworks publishers = Rage (2011) = still broken as broken, linear co-op garbage.

id Tech 5 Engine = Bethesda = Wolfenstein: The New Order = ? why fail again?

Nothing they ever do will topple what W:ET was in its hayday.

Hell to the no to multi player, look at "good" shooters with multiplayer like boyfriend 3 n 4 n carl on duty, they have worthless, boring, unplayable story, and multi doesn't save them at all, i'd rather have a good story shooter, than lame boring story and milions of campers in multi.
The thing you do not get is, if they do decide to put in MP in the future.
It doesn't change the factst hat SP is already finished.
Just them thinking about adding MP doesn't make the SP go poof.
Them saying they will do it doesn't make SP vanish or have a horrible story all of a sudden...

Might want to keep that in mind.
And those they do not want it are selfish.
If they add it, that's fine. It doesn't change how you play the game.
You still will have SP... As it doesn't go poof and vanish. It's already created.

Again, not gonna happen since Starbreeze (MachineGames) aren't familiar wih creating MP. They have alot of experience with SP and that's why they did this game SP only. Bethesda seems to also favor SP only considering how Dishonored was also SP only title.

IT does not matter if it does not happen.
My reply was to the person I quoted.
MP better be available. I miss the old Wolfenstein MP demo mayhem from like 10 years ago :DDD

People can want whatever they want. I dont get why Multiplayer is such a big thing for these 'gahymur' kiddies. They only ♥♥♥♥♥ and whine constantly about hackers, then buy aim bots and let software play for them anyhow. The community in FPS is complete ♥♥♥♥, and has been since the days of "Nice Shot" and "Good Game" vanished. You pricks have no sense of sportsmanship so take a hike on your multiplayer rant.

This needs to be engraved in a plaque somewhere, preferably in the developer's board room.

Well I don´t play multiplayer anymore since LAN parties are gone, but i could imagin that double wielding sniper rifles shooting other people in the ass would be fun. It would have some kind of Quake 3 feeling to it, something i really miss for at least 10 years now.
I prefer it when they release single player and multiplayer content of a game license as completely separate games. "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" and "Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory" being a perfect example for this.

I have never seen anybody say that the COD games have a great single player experience, those games are clearly focused on the multiplayer content. They might as well have made them 100% multiplayer from the start.

Pay attention to history: story-driven single player games that have multiplayer taped on the side never became succesful for their multiplayer content. Those die out very quickly and are usually bashed as being terrible. Why would that be any different for The New World Order?

If you want to play multiplayer games, then go play multiplayer games. Wolfenstein: The New Order is not a multiplayer game. Move along. There is no shortage of multiplayer games out there right now, there is always a new one around the corner, with the gaming market being saturated by it already.

Which brings up the next question: Why must every new FPS game have multiplayer? Didn't <random new FPS game> which came out last month have that already? Did you get bored of its multiplayer so quickly? Why will that be different here then? You will very likely be asking for multiplayer in the next FPS game a month later. Devs can't waste their time anymore developing multiplayer content for single player games now that it is CLEAR that the multiplayer part never stays active for very long.

tl;dr

If you want multiplayer, play games that are 100% focused for multiplayer.

ehm....
Many people wouldn't mind having it to prolong the gaming experience..
Single player games for most people ends in a few hours.. Then they don't touch the game again. Adding multiplayer increases the gameplay experience. That's all that some people want. All those questions you asked, it can be asked of single player games. Don't understand the bash on players/people who are asking for multiplayer. Thing is, the single player content is already finished. it's not going to diminish anything if this gets MP... You can still enjoy the single player. And besides, it's not up to you guys, it's up to them if they decide to add that kind of content or not.

It has been this way since the beginning of the videogame era. It still isn't stopping people from buying them. Those who want to replay a single player game will do so, others will move on to the next game. Dishonored doesn't have multiplayer, that didn't stop it from being a great game worth buying, even if one plans on playing it once.

maybe they'll release it as a standalone product like ET?

Exactly what I meant in the first paragraph of my previous post with the RtCW/ET comparison. This method is better. Single + multiplayer packed in a single release always results in one of the two being developed in a noticeable inferior way because time & resources available to the devs is limited.

I'm not against multiplayer, I'm against singleplayer packed together with multiplayer. One of the two always ends up very weak and dead in a short time. Better to develop only one, use the profits of it to build the other later (or release the tools for gamers to make it themselves).

Drunk Canadian, that says it all. MP in a shooter like New Order? Could there possibly be a more vapid idea? Oh wait, Bioshock has MP and look how awsome that is. Battlefield 4 bozo.

Not sure if creative trolling but I'll bite, and if you are implying BF4 is good then you are already too far gone to warrant attempting conversation. Bioshock, like Metro is an established series which has done SP right offering great exploration and emmersion in a single player shooter environment. Wolfenstein here doesn't seem to have that same style of experience from what has been revealed, and I wouldn't say popular opinion but a large proportion of the community as expressed on these forums has concerns about this (especially given the NEW studio behind it). Will the game be sufficient in a standalone SP experience? Maybe. But for those who aren't familiar with Wolfenstein or are maybe ET MP players, this game may not have enough to draw in a purchase.

And at the end of the day, if a game isn't successful to at least a moderate size audience (doesn't sell moderately well with favorable reviews), it is often classified as a failure, I don't want that, nor should you or the developer.

Go home, you re drunk.

This Wolfenstein is in the hands of people that did Chronicle of Riddick and The Darkness that were 2 of the most immersive fps you could find. That one, if you watched the 2 twitch streams done, is no different.
