Doom Beta Question

Is their any news on Doom? Also, if you get into the beta does that mean you own the game or you are just invited to play in the beta?

So far the only thing known about the Doom Beta is that it will be multiplayer.

Something that makes me nervous about the Doom Beta is it may be a LONG way off. If you go to google and search for Dishonored 2: Darkness of Tyvia you will find a 'fact' sheet on it and will also offer a preorder bonus of access to the Doom Beta... and Dishonored 2 isn't coming out until 2016.

That said is either possible that 'fact' sheet is either fake or the Doom Beta access on it is just a placeholder until they come up with some other preorder bonus. LOL Bethesda will be offering Doom Beta for every game they publish for the next 10 years.

These journalists may be making assumptions though as when I checked out the official Wolfenstein New Order Page it said they weren't going into specifics of what the beta would cover. MANY sites that reported about the Doom Beta speculated it would be multiplayer only and others outright say it will be like the above.

Reading further I believe the assumptions that it will be multiplayer focused are due to the game requiring an XBOX live GOLD (edit) account for the XBOX One Doom Beta. Live (edit: GOLD) is almost always required for any sort of multiplayer content.

It's also required to download anything off of the marketplace though. And I'd assume the beta would be something you just download. Now if it said gold membership that'd be different.

Thats not true. At least it wasn't for XBox 360. I owned one for quite a while and usually had the gold subcription, but when it ran out and I lost interest in renewing you still had the option to buy and download things from the marketplace. I never became involved with any sort of beta so I don't know what the rules about that would be though.

Correction: What I meant earlier was that an Xbox GOLD subcription is required. You are correct about requiring XBox live to download anything. You even said that in your post and about gold. I'm a dummy.
