Wolfenstein: The New Order

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Id Tech 5 sucks
Really.

Almost every issues I've encountered in Rage are back in WNO. And the known "work arounds" don't fix those issues (texture pop in, screen tearing, etc.).

The engine itself is pure garbage. Carmack is overrated. Thank god he's not doing 3d engines anymore, he's one of those genius from the 90ies era that simply couldn't adapt to modern needs.

no the engine doesn't suck, you need capable hardware and a clean OS, up to date drivers and preferably a Nvidia card because of the OpenGl drivers.
then you are good to go.
plus there are a lot of variables you can tweak in the console to further finetune quality and performance but you need to know what you are doing, understanding the engine design which differs from others engines out there because of the megatexture tech…
Carmack is a genius, the engine is unique, you are a troll on the steam forums, one of the many….face it.

Ho ♥♥♥♥, I got all of those and yet it's still as worse as Rage.

"hurrr durrr how dare you talk bad about Carmack's creation, it's so unique and awesome that not a single third party studio bought it to use it to make games."

Btw this is 2014, and there is no reason why you should spend hours editing an .ini file to make a game playable anymore. Especially if editing the .ini file doesn't fix the core issues in the end.

Don't forget the Flux Capicitor, Zero Point Module and mouse/keyboard hand carved from a solid block of unobtainium by headless monks and blessed by adepts from the Church of Starry Wisdom.

the Tech 5 engine is in my opinion, both awesome and horrible.
On the pluss sides, the mega textures do give an awesome variety and unique textures through the game, and some elements of the games looks stunning, and facial animations are really good. On the other hand, the mega textures do bring some low res textures, some objects and surfaces simply looks horrible, and the texture pop-in.

as you mean it, it is just my opinion folks.. I am not here to troll...
problem is everyone just want to play this at max/ultra settings and then you got poor performance.
the engine scales pretty well but it behaves a bit different from others engines
yeah it has his quirks and compatibility problems..true. but it is not a bad engine.
a SSD also helps a lot regarding the pop-in issue.. it is a future engine, the problem is Carmack is a pioneer and visionary… this engine will perform better and better with future hardware…

Lol at future engine that can't work properly 3 years after its first commercial release. That's pure PR BS.

More like dead at birth engine.

This engine is horse crap, every engines out there outperforms it and don't require you to buy a freaking SSD hard drive to have your texture displayed instantly.

I don't, i play it on the lowest setting possible although my computer is well above minimum specs, I simply want the game to behave like every other games on the market.
UnKn0wN Jun 30, 2014 @ 4:46am
hey, nothing personal, there are many gamers that can play this perfectly smooth, they just don't come here opening threads like this.
ok, the engine is a hit or miss depending on the system it seems...
you don't like it because it doesn't run well on your pc.
that's it.
Rage was great and runs smooth as butter maxed on my rig without any textures pop in.
WTNO is great, has more effects, more physics, better megatexture resolution and I had to tweak some settings in the console in order to make it run as smooth as Rage did out of the box.
I am waiting for DOOM and I am glad it will be on tech5...

The ONLY issue I have in WNO (and had in RAGE to an extent) is that if I have textures compressed it works fine, DISABLED in Rage and it was called GPU transcoding I think. If I set it to umcompreseed in WNO I get terrible performance at 4096 and everything else maxed. In Rage it would eventually smooth out if I gave it some time with GPU transcoding enabled, I tried to do the same in WNO and it crashes the game with uncompressed streaming texturtures and highest mem, 8146 or what ever it is with an OpenGL failure. Think I will keep it at compressed textures and 4096 as that looks killer enough for me @ 1920x1080

AMD Phenom II X2 555 BE (ALL CORES UNLOCKED)
