No. Its linear but it someone opens up to spaces where you can go different ways.

No, its a corridor shooter. Kind of like Half-Life 2 without any vehicle sections.

It's a no go for me then. Thanks for the quick response.

If the sole reason you won't buy a game is because it's not a open world, you are completly stupid.

Game don't have to be open world to be good. Amazing game so far, picked it up on sale and 2 hours clocked already.

Unless its an online competitive game like Titanfall, if it's not open world, it's an inferior game design. Wolfenstein isn't open world, and that's why it flopped. Take note of that game designers.

Actual evidence that it flopped? Game going on sale doesn't count, lol. I'm guessing you're trolling. There's an entire genre of games that isn't open world but that do really well, mainly as it's a long established, fun genre. Bioshock, Metro, Wolfenstein, Elite Sniper, etc. They offer unique perks that open worlds don't have. It goes both ways, each having pros and cons. Apples and oranges, man.

Yep, that's why Rage was such a success and Bioshock was a failure (all three times)...

There's a lot of articles that stated that Rage was a commercial disappointment. Apparently that's why there wasn't a sequel.

Back to my original point. Open world games are the most difficult games to create, they are also the most profitable because people can completely immerse themselves in the universe. Open world games are the true future of gaming.

I'm not going to get Wolfenstein since it's just another linear corridor shooter. It has no depth. No mod support. The graphics are also inadequate.

BTW check out TheWorseMod for Watchdogs. The graphics become close to true photorealism. Its just amazing.

If this game were an open world game, it would probably be a lot like RAGE, and it would not be anywhere near as good as it is now. I love open world games, but there's really no way to tell a tight story like this in a game where you can run around picking flowers as if the world is not literally collapsing around you. There's no room for an open world in this game. It would not make any sense at all. Your character moves with purpose.

It depends on what you want to give to the players. If you want them to decide for themselves, level up, and explore, do a hundred side-quests, join three guilds, then make an open-world game. Open-world games allow more branching and decisions. Games like Elder Scrolls or GTA are prominent in this practice.

However, if your aim is to create a game with rich, deeply integrated story that can be told with zero mistake, completely in-order, like a good story time, then linear story is the way to go. Action can be packed and choreographed where you want them. Cutscenes can be perfected with pre-rendered 1080p (or even 4K) videos because you don't need to render all the guns and bling you got in the two hundred side-quests you took earlier. Many FPS single-player campaigns choose to go this way.

Yes, Elvis, RAGE should have been linear.

I sent bethesda an email to let rockstar make the enxt wolfenstein game, this wolfenstein isnt even an open world sandbox its 2014 and it plays like a game from 1984.
The fact you said the worsemod for watch dogs makes me laugh so ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ hard. The own devs can't even help players out to make there terrible PC optimization better someone else has to do it yet you going to try to talk down to Wolfenstein
You going to talk about Wolfenstein and how it's a bad game?
And you are going to call Watch Dogs good?
Because Wolfenstein has terrible PC optimization, because Bethesda let players get the game early, because Wolfenstein has so many bad reviews.
Congrats on being a retarded idiot OP.
