Murder Duo
I've understood the reference of every newspaper article in the game with the exception of two articles:

10-11-1960: Berlin
Serial Killer On The Loose - Murder Duo Suspect
The rash of murders which has plagued the city for the last couple of months may be the work of a degenerate murder duo, sources close to the investigation say. So far, five people have been killed. Each victim was found dismembered and scattered throughout the sewers. Witness reports speak of two strange men, most likely mentally and physically disabled, lurking around the crime scenes. "They did not look like normal, decent Berlin folk to me," says one of the witnesses. "Must have been them who did this awful thing."

And:

10-16-1960: Berlin
Degenerate Killers Captured!
The pair of degenerate serial killers stalking Berlin has finally been captured, said the Chief of Police at a press conference this morning. The degenerates were quickly diagnosed by a psychiatrist as having several mental deficiencies causing violent and unpredictable behavior. A trial will commence, after which the pair will most likely be hanged for murder.

Who are these articles talking about? Is this a reference to some of the resistance? My first thought was Klauss & Max but considering Max is a pacifist it doesn't make sense.

You wouldn't want to make a list of all the references, would you? Because I'm sometimes blind to these things and need someone to explain them to me before I get references.

Anyone knew the answer? I'm curious to the same articles.

Nine year Necro.

Anyway, this series ruined Wolfenstein... so who cares what it was referencing.

I though it has something to do with prequel: Return to Castle Wolfenstein or The Old Blood. But after search... zero result. It's very odd, the way it wrote make you feel there must be something BIG behind the story.

Could be a reference to how there was a serial killer craze going on in the 60s/70s. There was Ted Bundy, the Manson Family, the Zodiac killer, etc... The murder duo thing does seem suspiciously specific and I too thought it was Max and Klauss but since they say they were captured it doesn't seem like it's them (although the Nazis could just be lying). I did a google search for 1960s serial killer duos and there are some but nothing that really sticks out as a definite reference for this. Maybe the "Tool Box Killers" who were two males in the US that specifically were known for killing 5 people - which matches the news report. Seems too obscure of a reference though, and also didn't happen in Germany (although we could say they travelled there as refugees after America surrendered in this alternate timeline).
Myra Hindley and Ian Brady?
Although they specifically targetted young childen, and there's no mention of kids being the victims.
