It is a bug, but I find a way to workaround....
Go to \Steam\steamapps\common\Wolfenstein.The.New.Order\base and open:
default.cfg
I change all the defaulf key mapping in that file, and map all "_use" to "g".
Then open the game, In kep mapping option, click reset to default to load the setting in default.cfg
Now I can press E to forward Tunnel Glider and G to exit. =D
that's not the point. Jinx said developers are "FORCING wasd on us". that is what I was responding to. Nobody is forcing wasd on anybody. There may be a bug as you say, but they are not purposely forcing you to use wasd.
It's also done differently from the rest of the controls, since it's QWERTY position E on the keyboard regardless of layout, even though the key bindings the game uses otherwise are keyboard layout dependent. Probably some initial test code that got accidentally left in that uses a scancode based method directly.
EDIT: I'm probably wrong with my guess if others have found it in the config files. I guess the defaults are based on position instead of letter and get translated to the users layout for the settings... and when changing the use key in the settings it just forgets to map it back to this one action, so setting it manually in the defaults file works.
I just held down W when getting in and pressed E to move forward, after that I could release W and as long as I kept holding down E, I didn't get out again.
It's not perfect because you have to do it that way every time you want to enter the glider, but I felt it was faster than exiting the game
Hold E when you enter the tunnel glider.
