No Hitler?!

Ok, I loved the game and everything about it; story, narrative, level design, combat... you name it. I really thought this game was a masterpiece when compared to the very forgettable Return to Castle Wolfenstien... However, I have one complaint; How is Hitler not in this game?!

I kept expecting him to eventually make an appearence or be the final boss or SOMETHING... but no... he's only mentioned several times (by soliders), but that's it.

The FIRST THING that comes to mind when thinking of Nazis is Hitler. How could they make a Nazi based shooter and not include the man himself? I mean, who wouldn't want to kill Hitler? He even (briefly) appears in the game's trailer... so surely you'd think he'd be in the game, right?

Wrong. Instead, we got some fictional character "General Deathshead" within a mech as a final boss, which is exactly how Hitler appeared at the end of Wolfenstien 3D. Why the character switch?

Well, its not like the fight is over just because Deathshead is dead either. I'm guessing they want a sequel.

maybe hitler died of old age and deathshead took over the war machine or maybe hitler retired and is now sipping mojitos on miami beach in the sun with sam axe you know mr chin from burn notice

They needed to change stuff for a German edition as it is. Adding Hitler to the narrative would make too much of a significant change between the German edition and the rest, maybe.

I mentioned that in my post.

And based on soliders saying "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" throughout the game, I would think that he's still alive. I'm not sure if the events in Wolf 3D are supposed to be the same story line as The New Order, otherwise, why would the Nazis still be in power? And wouldn't you be known as the hero who killed Hitler?

Wolf 3D ans spear of destiny are not part of this timeline.
The new timeline is Return to castle wolfenstein, Wolfenstein (2009) and TNO.
And Deathshead is the bad guy in the 2 previous games, so that's why he is the main villain in TNO too.

I think based on the nightmare sequence that it is a nod towards it being somewhat canon, and if Wolfenstein is successful enough perhaps we'll see further storyline :)

No, it's not canon. The nightmare sequence is just an easter egg.

I had wondered this too- there's not so much a picture of Hitler in the entire game. I read up a little on Wolfenstein 3D and apparently when it was originally released it was banned in Germany because of the Swastikas and Hitler references. When it was re-released it didn't feature Hitler as the final boss, instead it was exactly the same boss but with a different name and without the moustache! I thought this could be a reason. Even though they still say "♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥" this could be like the Soviets mentioning Lenin or Marx all the time I guess, an enduring cult of personality.

RtCW forgettable?! I hate you. Return to Castle Wolfenstein was a real masterpiece that still stands up today. Its only outdated as far as the graphics go.

Do yours, Wolf 3D was rebooted in RtCW. Hitler is still alive.

Only the SNES version was censored like that. The dogs were replaced with giant rats too.

I recall Deathshead's recorded monologue in the London Nautica when Blazko is about to enter the "Moon Room" talking about Hitler in present tense, something like "without technology we wouldn't have our Führer" or something like that.

My problem with this game, while it's a small problem, but it does annoy me. There is no Hitler in any form whatsoever. He is basically the father of Nazi Germany No statues, paintings? Signs?
What, did during that time our protagonist was in a coma, Hitler grew a heart and tried saving the Jews, was executed for it and scratched from History? Come on, give me a painting or a stature.
