Now I have the solution: you must change the audio settings of your computer to "stereo".
Now we have the voices again! ;)
for anyone who might stumble upon this thread, this is what fixed it for me just minutes ago:
go to
sounds->playback, select your device->properties->advanced
my format was set to "16bit, 44100hz" for some reason, changing it to "24bit 48000bit" not only fixed my sound issues with wolfenstein, but also noteably increased overall audio quality :D
