Most games don't use CPU a lot.
IF you run prime95 do you succeed in heating the CPU like that?
I find this CPU has a very low maximum operation temp.
Tcase (aka core temps) = MAX 61.1°C
***This temp is correctly reported in AMD Overdrive***
***This temp is correctly reported in HWMonitor under AMD FX-8350 > Temperature > Package***
Tjunction (aka socket temp) = MAX 70°C
***This is what is reported in the BIOS according to AMD***
***This temp is correctly reported in HWMonitor under Temperatures > CPU***
With such a low max temp you may run into trouble without super cooling or well applied cooling element.
I remember reaching +80 degrees C running my Q9450 at 3.3Ghz in tropical environment with a Coolermaster Hyper 212, would have had to install airconditioning to get it down to the FX 8350's recommended temps.
Win 7 Pro X64
Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 Mainboard
AMD FX 8350 4Ghz CPU
** Thermaltake NIC4 CPU Cooler **
Corsair 16gig Vengence 1600Mhz DDR3
2x eVGA GTX 660 SC 2GB SLI
Forceware Driver 335.23
Thermaltake Toughpower 1375 Watt PSU
Thermaltake Overseer RX-I Full Tower Case
1 200mm side intake fan
1 200mm front intake fan
2 200mm top exhaust fan
1 120mm rear exhaust fan
Before I had installed the Thermaltake NIC4 cooler, I was running the stock cooler.
While running Prime95, Hmonitor was reporting my CPU Core temp up to 73c!
Granted, it wasn't a constant 73c, but it got up there and it scared me to death!
Ran the same Prime95 test using the program Coretemp, and it reported my CPU
Core temp at 62c
Mind you, both of these tests I only let run for less than 3 minutes, made me too nervous!
I got the Thermaltake NIC4 CPU cooler installed, and after 20 minutes of Prime95,
my CPU Core temp levels off at around 61c, and NO higher, according to Hmonitor.
Did the same Prime95 test with only Coretemp program, and it reports a max core temp of around 39c.
Frankly, however, liquid cooling scares the crap out of me personally. I have never had any luck with plumbing and did not want to chance a leak.
Be wary of some of the "tower" type CPU coolers as some of them can interfere with your RAM sticks if the RAM sticks have heat spreaders on them.
Bottom line is, the stock cooler shipped with the FX 8350 is nothing more than a noisy, crappy cooler.
I would highly recommend replacing it ASAP.
I found that on demanding games the graphics card was pulling so much power that the PSU was right on it's power limit and the heat being generated by the graphics card and the near-overloaded PSU was enough to send my CPU up to a crazy temperature.
I fixed it by upgrading my PSU and leaving the side off my PC.
Well, he's absolutely right though.
This game doesn't stress my CPU any more than anything else, much less in fact than even playing Far Cr 3 or some game like that.
So yeah something is up with your current rig, and after all the people that tried to give you info, tips, etc., you didn't even bother to list what CPU cooler you have- still.
BTW you do not need liquid cooling on one of these CPUs to get it to run cool. It just takes a few minutes of experimenting with fan placement.. Turning one fan from sucking to blowing can make a huge difference, and every case/ setup is a little different.
If your CPU can handle 100% usage from stress test, then this game cannot possible overheat it any more than that. It is impossible. SO yeah, your PC/ case fan flow, whatever, is messed up, just like your attitude.
"Within one minute of play time my CPU is running at 65C. Within ten to fifteen minutes it's shooting up to 79C"
65C in one minute? 79C in 10 min? And you say it isn't messed up?
Yes, it is.
My 8150 @ 4.2hghz never goes above 57C, and never went above 63C with 2x GTX670 OC amount of heat dumping into case with it.
No, your PC is not "a beast" if you have a crap stock cooler on your 8350.
maxsmeLL is absolutely right, you just can't handle the truth, and lash out like an angry child when confronted with it.
That says it all right there.
