Wolfenstein: The New Order

Wolfenstein: The New Order

What did you think about the ending? (Spoilers)
SPOILER: In the end, you fight Deathshead. There is 2 phases to the bossfight. After these 2 phases you drive your knife through him, and he looks at you with a smug smile on his face. He reveals a granade in his hand, killing him and damaging Blaskowitz severely. After this there is a cutscene where you see the Anya and the prisoners escaping. Fergus / Wyatt then asks Blaskowitz if he's ready for them to blow up the base. Blaskowitz responds "yes" and the base blows up, killing Blaskowitz who was still in the base.

What did you think about this ending? I think it sucked that Blaskowitz died like that, especially since he was still alive and the helicopter could have came and picked him up and tried to keep him alive. Also the whole "haha I'm holding a granade" thing felt cheap, since you had fought Deathshead so hard to kill him only to have that happen. Nothing was leading up to Blaskowitz death, I think it just was a "well people will complain if we have a happy ending" thing. Also how will DLC work if Blaskowitz is dead?

Really Blasko had excepted there could be no happy ending for him he was a soldier at heart.

There's something more to it. Numerous suggestions (At least that I see) that Blaskowitz isn't grasping reality completely. Suggestions that Anya is not who she is as well as Caroline. Caroline should be younger, unless they retconned the last game (She mentions how she presumably dies in Wolfenstein 2009 though). I get this odd time travel vibe out of the story and ending.
If you watch the credits there is the sound of the helicopter blades quite clearly, so they may have come round to pick him up before the nuke. Apart from being hit point blank by a grenade, Blasko was also poisoned by Bubi, so that would have to be sorted out too.

No one ever said he was actually dead. They say are we clear, and he says yes, then it ends, there is no explosion, we don't see or hear any. Also Bubi doesn't die

The game makes up anything it likes when it comes to life and death. Max took two bullets to the upper torso and got along just fine with bandaids. The other guy took a few to the mid chest, seemed to die and came to just long enough to give that speech on the chopper.

It's clear that Blazco is alive because the chopper sound at the end, they'll patch him up with paper towel and he'll be right to go again.

There will be a sequel.
1. Helicopter comes back. Just watch the credits until the end.
2. A Wolfenstein without Blazko isn't Wolfenstein.
3. Frau Engel is alive. It's not over yet.
4. Blazkos dream will become true.
I can't believe that there is no happy end in that story.

I loved every bit of the game, up to that ending. BJ's apparent death put a pall over the rest of the game for me. But I did watch the credits, hoping for a happy ending cutscene, and did hear the helicopter. So yes, maybe he was rescued at the end. And now that I read a sequel or DLC will be made, then even better -- BJ lived. I do agree with those who think his gruesome injuries at the end would be hard to explain surviving, however.

I think it's funny you guys are saying this... almost like you forgot playing the last fifteen chapters eating cans of beans to heal and gluing parts from robots to your body while carrying seven different weapons AND the ammo for them... all the while hidden on your character in cutscenes... not to mention the fact that you seem to forget to bring them with you every chapter to make things harder.

I think "BJ" puts it best when he says "This would be a whole lot easier if you didn't have robots and I had an army."

Seriously... "BJ" .. had darn well BETTER come back to life haha... He's pretty much "Wolfen-Jesus" anyway xD

Personally I think there isn't something quite right with BJ. As Fraur's psycho lover put it "Something must be wrong with your brain" (not word for word). I wonder if there is something to BJ's strong will and his amazing stamina.

Wait.. you just brought something up... we never did finish killing Frau Engel did we? (( PS: Frau isn't her name, it just a prefix meaning a female professional or military leader))

Maybe the sequel will be set in the late 70's / 80's ?. You play the child of Anya and BJ (they got it on at least twice that we saw... she could be pregnant). 20 yrs down the line, pockets of resistance like the one BJ helped have become emboldened and empowered by the victory in New Order and the Nazis are now on the decline. We join the fight as the Nazis give one last push to regain world domination....
Just my thoughts on what might be a plausible story continuation.

Going with these thoughts, the main villains could be the children (or grandchildren!) of Engel.

Now then, yes, that would work well..... BJ Jnr VS the Engel Family !. All set against the backdrop of revolution and the Nazis becoming even more evil as they become more desperate to retain control, all culminating in the Grandma Engel MechaZimmerFrame final boss fight !!.
Oh yeah.....

This Discussion is pretty old now.. but at the End of the Credits you can CLEARLY hear the Chopper coming closer to Blasko.. if it were the other way around.. it would slowly fade away, so i assume now that they just came back and picked him up since the Nuke Launch itself was never shown on Screen.

Conjecture. I want what you're saying to be true, but it's still just "wishful thinking". :(
