Catalyst 14.4 was released in April of 2014, so chances are high that your PC will already come loaded with a more current version.
When your PC does arrive and you get it set up... just right click on empty space on the desktop and in the dropdown menu you'll see an option to enter the Catalyst Control Center (graphics control panel). From here, just find the Information>Software tab, and it will show you the installed version of Catalyst.
TLDR:
Catalyst is just the name of AMD's device drivers. Not difficult to update.
