Relation between W: TNO and new Doom game?

So I read that BJ's descendant is the doomguy. I wonder if this means that the government in Doom is the Nazis, or that the Nazis were somehow overthrown at some point. What do you guys think happened?

Nazis were overthrown and US got place number 1 again.

Rest of Europe probably was ravaged to irrelevance in the liberation wars. Remember that that is a time line where they had PLENTY of time to get rid of "undesirables"...

Not to mention that the nazis had nukes in other places besides the submarine... so it probably went VERY messy.

Anyway I doubt iD is making the game in the same time line. They have zero need to do so.

Wait, why do you think the nazis got overthrown? As of this game, they still have power, just Deaths head is gone.

I think it would be pretty cool to at least have them be in the same universe, that way we could see what the distant future looks like.

Of course somoene would say that if they completely forgot that the Nazis were no longer one nation. Yeah sure, Deathhead and his HQ has been wiped out but only a handful of people would know this.

So when an ending is so ambiguous I have to ask; where did you get this informaiton from?

On-topic: I wouldn't read too much into it as my socks will be blown off if Doom's story was just as a "deep" as W: TNO.

Well, its a Bethesda game, they usually have good stories in their games. I would doubt that they would just assume that the multiplayer will be super popular and put all their eggs in one basket with that.

Doomguy was a descendant of BJ... in the classic series. Not just that but Commander Keen was BJ's grandson. Since the Doom 3 reboot of the Doom series and the Return to Castle Wolfenstein reboot of Wolfenstein (and again a sort of reboot with New Order) there has been no connection between the franchises... other than being owned by id Software.

That said I did play the cell phone RPG games, Doom I, II & Wolfenstein RPGs and they once again made the connections between the games of Doomguy being a descendant. In fact, the last boss of Wolfenstein RPG is the Cyberdemon. When BJ defeats him, blowing off his arm and leg the Cyberdemon swears he will return to take vengeance on BJ's descedant (Doomguy). Cool stuff. Again though as far as the modern PC games go... no connection.

If we assume the game to have a happy ending after

you die, that would be it. Simply exploding the castle with a nuke wouldn´t mean everyone would go free, yes? Even if France, England etc revolted it was still bound to be bloody, and the nazis would still have nukes to use on US. Unless you believe they were all in the sub, which isn´t exactly the smartest move. Also doubtful there would be no nazi leadership left.

We can theroycraft all day long. The game doesn´t give info to have 100% reason of any outcome, anyway.

Not to mention why no jew in US wouldn´t know about the super occult technology and allow US to catch up. So my theory still is that Europe would revolt and US and possibly Russia would help.

Meh, sounds to me like either somebody made it up or id has that as a bit of fanservice. Judging by these two games, to the point where Greta's chew-toy in TOB is the red floating demon, I'm sure they'll bring these up plenty of times.
