Thoughts On Difficulty
Just finished my first playthrough on normal difficulty on pc. I played it on Xbox when it first came out before I made the switch but thought I would give my input on difficulty as I’ve been seeing several posts saying that this game is too difficult.

YES this game is difficult at certain points. A few moments that stood out to me were the Gibraltar Bridge gunfight and the final boss battle (second half).

First of all let me just say that this game is not like others on the market where you can just run into a fight and kill everything. The weapon matters, the timing matters, and how you handle specific situations matters. The enemies are quite OP at times and will kill you very easy unless you have armour on. The game is almost designed in a way where it wants you to do complete a certain situation a certain way. It makes it even more difficult when it doesn’t tell you how to complete a task. For example the final battle (SPOILER) when deathshead is generating that forcefield from lighting, I legit didn’t know there were blimps I was suppose to shoot down until like 10/15 mins in to the battle.

Approach every situation with stealth first and if you can’t make sure to think about it hard.

***Gibraltar Bridge***

There is a moment where you must cross a heavily fortified section of the bridge with little to no cover and 2 massive enemy spawn points. There is not enough ammo around to do anything because the enemies keep coming, there is almost 0 cover, and it is very difficult to see enemies. The strategy I came up with is to just haul ass past the entire level. Grab a pistol and as the juggernaut breaks out of the rail car, sprint past him down the left side of the bridge taking cover behind the smoking car as you grab the medpacks. Continue on to the second car straight ahead picking up armour and medpacks. You will get shot at. Now cut across the bridge to the right side and follow the wall until you reach the doorway. Once you enter you will be face to face with yet another juggernaut. Loose all your grenades and take cover behind the columns until you feel you have a chance to sprint up the steps. The juggernaut will not follow you.

In my opinion this was unbeatable without this exploit.

***Final Battle***

Once you beat deathshead and he descends into the hole you must head behind the fence in the initial battle area and grab as many damn rockets as you can before heading down. I had 12 on me before even heading down. Also make sure laser is charged. Just spam rockets on him as much as you can before the visibility gets too bad. Once you’re out of rockets use your grenades, once you’re out of those use your laser.

Another section in the game that was probably the hardest in my opinion was the “locate the cells” part of chapter 16.

In order to beat this you must backtrack into the room you just came from, grab a turret gun, and keep recharging it at the station under the wood scaffolding. Take out 1 enemy by carefully looking around the main entrance, then head back to recharge. It will take a while but you will make it through without taking any damage.

It was definitely harder than most games I’ve played but not so frustrating as to make me rage quit completely lol. The times I mentioned above were the only times I had trouble but follow those steps and you’ll get through.

If you die just think how does the game want me beating this right now

game isn't difficult at all, except the final boos (2nd phase) on Über mode but aside from that it's an easy game.

You can't cut across Gibraltar Bridge from tank to wall without clearing some enemys in hardest diff.
Ah - I haven't played the hardest difficulty and don't plan to any time soon lol
I think higher difficulties are balanced, there are some areas that are tough but game never felt unbalanced or like it's cheating, including Deathshead, he can be pain at Uber but never felt like game is cheating.

I did the final boss on uber with zero trouble. And I never used this "exploit" for the bridge either lol. There is always cover, and if you run out of ammo, you're not hitting your headshots.

But it's true that this game has actual difficulty, more than many other games on the market. On the higher difficulties the enemies are dangerous, and you can't just rush in and start blasting.

Just wait until you get to Wolfenstein II. This game is nothing compared to that.
Oh yea I quickly learned that lol
