Wolfenstein: The New Order

Wolfenstein New Order is kinda boring
I installed and started playing it and then discovered the "perk system" which is really chonky IMHO.

I can achieve the perks but it takes away from any immersion.

Also if/when I die it teleports me past whatever area and deletes all enemies. That's really a dumbed-down gameplay mechanic.

Maybe I'm just too old and jaded a gamer to enjoy FPS type games anymore.

Yeah its not that great. Played through the story once, its okayish.
Weapon choice wheel does not really work with Mouse+KB. Camera shaking while shooting is horrific. 6/10

Checkpoint saves are my big bugbear. Especially as there are some quite large gaps between them. It's a primitive "old console" thing, I'm sure they could have come up with something better...... though the usual save system promotes save scumming. I agree with too much camera shaking when firing too, puts one's aim off, makes the gunplay feel sloppy IMO - but then again no-one could fire two assault rifles at the same time one in each hand without jiggling everywhere! Don't try it at home!

The checkpoint save system is garbage. Save-scumming is only scummy if somebody uses it as an endless lifeline - and that only robs them of challenge/fun.

I also hate that when I do exit and later on want to continue playing the game engine teleports me to a checkpoint frequently ahead of where I was at and it simultaneously deletes all enemies. wtf devs

I really don't think I should have to jump through hoops, go to a checkpoint, build a specific shelter, etc. when I need to quickly exit game playing and take care of real life. Especially a pc game. It's obviously a console port mechanic.

One thing I really miss in shooters ist weapon diversity. And no it doesn't count to implement different kind of guns which have more or less almost the same kill speed but different playstyle. I miss the special weapons with low ammo which deliver a deadly punch. I miss the feeling of getting better weapons the longer I play. Almost all modern SP FPS rely on weapons that don't feel powerful. Far Cry 4 was the first game in which I got that feeling. Far Cry 5 made me cry regarding this. Seems that it's everywhere now.
