Wolfenstein: The New Order

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Nothing working for AMD fix, please help
When I rename the .exe file to 32 it will just do a small update that renames it 64 again. Is there a way to make it launch off of the 32 file? Also other fixes haven't worked. I've posted several commands into the Launch Options. Those didn't fix. Tried the RadeonMod, but it when I turn it on, it's just a blank screen. I'm running an AMD RX 480. Still getting low FPS and now getting the game crash at the prison. Well, any help will be appreciated :steamsad::steamsad:

I'm running:
Intel i3-6100
AMD RX 480
Windows 10

RX 480 user here, I crashed as soon as I tried to open the game too, check for updates. The 17.6.2 update just became available for me through the radeaon app. I updated to it and bam the game works flawlessly. Granted I have only played about 30 minutes of the game but it actually works now. If the update does not show up in your radeon dashboard go to the AMD site and download the update manually.

Funny little side note, I specifially went out of my way to purchase the new order for xobx one earlier today just so I could play the damn thing. Now I have to go back out of my way to return it haha
lol, sucks to be you AMD guys. Good cards 'n all, I'm not dissing you on wanting to spend less for the same. But unfortunately most of these games are geared towards NVIDIA's graphics solutions.

Instead of renaming x64 to x32, someone suggested x86 and that actually did the trick.

I didn't know people like you still existed.
There's very few games that even bother with the graphics card exclusivity ♥♥♥♥.
I can tell you for a fact that iD Tech 5 wasn't geared towards any graphics card.
OpenGL is kind of hard to gear towards anything; it's all dependant on what version of OpenGL your GPU has and can handle. Some Nvidia cards have ♥♥♥♥ OGL support, some have it good, same with AMD.

Google "Wolfenstein The New Order Nvidia" and you'll see just as many Nvidia crash and low framerate reports as AMD. It's some silicone lottery ♥♥♥♥, as you'll also see some AMD guys running better than a 980 or 1080, and some lower than a 750ti.

There is no "gearing" really.. What tends ot happen is that nVidia has more software developers to go to the big game companies and work with them to help tweak the games to run well on nVidia cards via "Game Ready Drivers". It doesn't affect AMD but since AMD doesn't have the same amount of free people the optimizations can come slower since AMD works more after the games launch.

Sadly enough, nothing ever works on AMD. Sadly enough, Nvidia's been in what seems like every game since the dawn of the PC.

Edit: Update to the newest driver. AMD Driver 17.6.2 fixed it for me.

Yet ATI is an older GPU company than nVidia ( ATI was founded in 1985 and launched with the ATI Wonder Series while nVidia was founded in 1993 launching the NV1 in 1995).

However nVidia focuses mainly on GPUs while ATI was bought out by AMD and while the divisions focus is mainly GPUs their tech has been used to further AMDs APUs so they might have been a bit side tracked.

Plus nVidia puts more into R&D. In 2015 nVidia put $348 Million into R&D while AMD as a whole (everything not just GPUs) did $238 Million. Then there is Intel who put $2.99 Billion into R&D in 2015.

I have an RX480 as well. And it freezes on that chapter with the guy on the roof of the prison. It's so infuriating...:steamfacepalm:

Did you bother to read the whole story? How is the AMD to blame or a bad card if the game ran flawlessly until the 4th episode???? It's a bug in compatibility or the game itself. It's not to do with the card of a certain brand. I'm sure there are similar situations with some cards from Nvidia. These things just happen.

The x64 to x86.exe trick worked for me. I made a desktop shortcut so I wouldn't have to get into launch options to play.

I tried that too. It's not working. It automatically downloads the 64 version again and runs that one.

Same thing here and same place. Searched the internet for solution and nothing has worked.

Anyway, incredible. I wouldn't have imagined such a thing... I hope they solve the issue quickly.

RX480 here.
First solution in this post worked for me. Creating an exe from bat 32 bit launcher fixed the crashes.

Sometimes Steam will detect the exe is not genuine and will replace it so you'll have to recreate it but rest of the time it works.

Also a 480 owner and can confirm that this method works if you follow it word for word. Some people are skimming through and think they can just rename the .exe to the x32 and it'll work. It won't. You need to follow the instructions and create the .bat and recompile it to the .exe.

My only question is that once you complete the Prison stage, can you revert back to the original .exe and play through the rest of the game? I'm only reading about people getting stuck on chapter 4 the Prison stages.

Prison crash is only the beginning :-D
In fact, sometimes Steam will detect the "fake" exe you generated and will download a new clean 64 bit exe which will make your game crash randomly until you use the fix again, even in the latter game.
So my advice if you're AMD, just use this fix and keep up with it.
This sucks but this is the only game I have issue with, so the issue is with the game itself, not the graphic card.

I found the issue. It seems to be linked to scenes where there are chains that need to be cut with the electric gun. It kicks me out when I reach such places, very often. Other than that, you need to set your .exe file in compatibility with windows 8. This is the only, simple thing that works for me. It does kick me out of the game, like I said, but it is playable nevertheless. Enjoy!
