Wolfenstein: the new order won't launch!
I really want to play this game, but it does not launch! none of my other games have this problem. when i press play, it goes to a black screen for half a second, then it closes! I've been searching all over the internet for a solution, but nothing helps! Thats a shame to, because I have heard so many good things about it! Please, if someone knows a way to fix it, message me about it.

found this in another discussion, works for me now.

Step 1: Go to your wolfenstein file location
Step 2: Create a notepad document and name it steam_appid
Step 3: Open said notepad and type in "201810" (without the quotation marks)
Step 4: Right click the executable for the game and press copy
Step 5: Paste it in the same folder
Step 6: Rename the pasted executable to WolfNewOrder_32
Step 7: Launch the game using the executable rather than on steam

This fix didn't work for me. The game keeps trying to launch on my 2nd monitor and just hangs in black. And no, I don't have a program called DisplayLink installed (as per Bathesda support).
Any help would be appreciated.

Having the same issue as OP and that fix wasn't working for me either.

Here's how I was able to fix this:

1 - Turn off 2nd monitor in Windows Settings and launch game.
(this is the only way the game would launch)

2 - Alt-Tab out of game and turn on 2nd monitor in Windows Settings.
(game immediately switches to 2nd monitor when you do this)

3 - Go back into the game and go into video menu. Select Monitor 2 and Apply.
(game switches back to monitor 1 - I know, messed up, right?)

Now the game launches correctly to monitor 1 (which it thinks is monitor 2) every time. No more hassle. Bizarre though.
