Wolfenstein: The New Order

Sound issue; using Sound BlasterX G6 DAC
I am new to this relatively old game, and have a sound problem that appears to be similar to the problems that were discussed years ago; apparently Bethesda never did anything to fix it, which is disappointing. All the sounds work through several chapters and then suddenly, silence, no audio at all. It kills the the audio on my entire system, actually, even after closing out of the game there is no sound, I have to reboot my computer to get the audio back.

I see that there is a fix that at least worked for some folks using the Realtek audio manager for their sound card but, as noted in the title, I am using the USB Sound Blaster X G6 external sound card/DAC/head amp so that fix won't work for my system.

Any suggestions for a fix/workaround would be appreciated!

No response here, obviously, and I was unable to find or figure out a fix for this audio problem.

I managed to finish the game but the frequent interruptions caused because I needed to exit out of the game and reboot my system in order to restore the audio spoiled it for me. I know I missed a lot of things my first time through and had originally planned to replay the game at a higher difficulty, but, as much fun as killing Nazis is….no thank you!
I've noticed a very strange problem occurring with the SoundBlasterX G6 and it's that a lot of older games refuse to have sound working, I've written it off a lot as being a Windows problem but hell no. I decided to connect back to the integrated sound card in the motherboard, and gosh the sound came back. I don't know what the problem is, maybe I screwed up when I installed SoundBlaster drivers several times, including Sound Blaster Command and another similar but older program, but the fact remains that old games refuse to work with this sound card, which is very sad because we paid money for it.
This game overall has so many issues relating to sound. I have an issue where the audio is super quiet all around, and I didn't find a fix for it, apart from using a headset. This issue somewhat appears in MGR:R too, during the cutscenes. I don't know what is with early 2010s games that just don't work.

Okay, so the way to fix it is by putting in "cvaradd s_volume_dB 15" in the console. That should do it.
