Knife alternative mode?

So when playing with the knife equipped i can press C (or one of the buttons next to it) and it switches the knife from a stabby mode to a ninja mode. Does this have any affect on game play? I've been trying to Google this for a while and checked wikis and can't find the answer mentioned anywhere.

I'm pretty sure it just plays BJ's knife idle animation, he switches how he holds the knife on his own from time to time.

Ok point taken it's probably just for looks and consistency. I give it to the developers for polish. Bought New Colossus + DLC giving that a crack now i''ve finished it (can't be bothered being a completionist these days...too many games...)

EDIT: It does chance the knife stance though, not just play the idle animation.

Interesting. If I had any idea what I was doing, I'd check the damage values in Cheat Engine.

Heh, I also thought about this. Guess it's just for show. Like how it was in Soldier of Fortune, if you pressed secondary fire mode or whatever while holding either Deagle or the shotgun, you could do tricks with the weapons but it didn't affect the gameplay whatsoever.

If I had any idea what I was doing I'd probably do the same haha. Interesting idea though, I didn't know this was possible, might look into it later.
