Is all the wolfenstein games on the same timeline?
I just got into the series and beaten TNO. I was reading comments of people saying all the games are continuous. I thought the each game by a different publisher was a reboot.

Yes from Return to Castle Wolfenstein until Wolfenstein 2 and beyond

To elaborate a little, there are technically 3 different wolfenstein timelines:
-The first 2 games by Silas Warner
-The id games (Wolfenstein 3D, Spear of Destiny and the spear of destiny mission packs)
-All the other games from Return to Castle Wolfenstein onwards (although some of the later ones retcon the earlier ones a little, they're still meant to have more or less the same timeline).

In general it doesn't really matter if you've played the earlier games, the only returning characters in TNO are BJ, Caroline and Deathshead and everything else might as well be a new timeline.

Isn't Wolfenstein 2009 entirely different than TNO?

It is in tone, gameplay, engine, development team and pretty much everything. But it's the same timeline. BJ meets Deathshead for the first time in Return to Castle Wolfenstein, keeps chasing him throughout Wolfenstein 2009 and then at the start of The New Order makes one last attempt even though war is almost over. It's a bit of a trilogy. The Old Blood is a retcon in this regard, it's a reimagining of RTCW events.
