Wolfenstein: The New Order

Wolfenstein: The New Order

Terrible performance issues?
not sure what happened if its a nvidia driver issue or not but this game runs like pure garbage now. doesnt matter what settings i use it wont go above 25-30fps with 15-20% gpu usage. clearly this game hates optimus. So i pluged my laptop into my TV to get around that issue but now it runs at 1080P but stutters like crazy no matter what settings i use. and if i die the game freezes everytime so i have to force close. i dont ever remeber it being this terrible it ran smooth as butter for me a few years ago on my gtx 980 so i thought for sure i would have no issues running 1080p on a gtx 1060 6gb not sure whats going on here

-ive tried creating a cache folder
-disabling tripple buffer
-setting all graphics to low
-lowring resolution to 720p

the game wont even run above 25 fps on my laptop because it does not cooperate with optimus even if i right click and select to run specificly on the dGPU so thats annoying. good ol idtech5 trash

There are alot of threads here that raise the same issue when it comes to newer GTX video cards. and the fix seems to be: Go to GeForce Experience and turn off "In Game Overlay".

:( sorry, i found a lot of fixes around here that did not work for me, like specific configs, console settings modified and all that.
the way i fount my solution was to look at ppl (on YouTube) that showed my laptop running the game ( i have a Lenovo Legion Y720 with GTX 1060 6GB) and found a guy running the game at 60 FPS ultra, so i left him some comments and he told me about the GeForce Experience > In Game Overlay fix. Try and find people running Wolfenstein on your laptop.

I have all the latest updates on my graphic card and i play only with power plugged in because i don't like to change power optimization settings.

Wow. Came here after trying to play this after not touching it for a long while, and discovering it runs at 15fps all of a sudden. Even in the menu. I disabled the GE overlay and it immediately shot up to 60fps.

Yeah, same. I have a GTX 1070 and it is super choppy. Even on medium settings. I remember playing this on ultra with 60FPS and no lag when I had SLI 660s when it first came out. How does this happen!?! NotLikeThis

Give the methods in this video a try. https://youtu.be/uy8RwrdyiEE The very first one worked for me, I simply ran it in compatibility mode for Windows 8 and it works fine now. If you are having the same problem with "The Old Blood" which you probably do if you have problems with this title, try the same method for that game. I've also heard renaming the .exe, as described in the second method, works for a lot of people, too.

And...nevermind. It's broken again. WTF terrible programming is this? It was working fine for the entire 45 minutes I was playing. Quit, went back, back to being ♥♥♥♥. I have a bad feeling The New Colossus will be a huge failure because of performance issues.

Added this text to launch options through steam:

+vt_useCudaTranscode 1 +r_multisamples 0 +vt_pageImageSizeUniqueDiffuseOnly2 8192 +vt_pageImageSizeUniqueDiffuseOnly 8192 +vt_pageImageSizeUnique 8192 +vt_pageImageSizeVmtr 8192 +vt_uncompressedPhysicalImages 1 +vt_maxPPF 128

And it's working now. You will have some texture pop-ins but I don't think there is any way to avoid it. It's a broken piece of ♥♥♥♥ software, but a great game.

And it's not working again. I give up. I don't think there is anything we can do on our end it's just a broken piece of ♥♥♥♥ that I'll never play again.

Did you try the thing about disabling the geforce experience overlay? That's what worked for me.

It was disabled the entire time lol. I believe I disabled it to work with another game. Either way, I don't run GeForce Experience.

I did hear the new Wolfenstein will run on the DOOM engine so I am grateful for that. I guess I'll just never get to play this again.

Renaming exe "fix" does not work for me, kinda hard to believe it does for other users, disabling catalystai fixes the old blood at least, i used to play the game flawlesly with my old HD 7870 XT, its an issue with the Nvidia 10 and Amd RX series cards i believe, why i dont know, this should be mentioned on the store page.

yea i tried the compatibility fix and that doesnt help and everyone keeps telling me to diable the geforce overlay but i dont even have geforce experience installed i unselect that usless app on every driver update. so im not sure what the issue is. i ran it 2 years ago 1440p 60fps on a gtx 980 so i should have 0 issues playing 1440p with a gtx 1060 but for some reason this game hastes pascal.

Well older drivers should be a solution, but no use for RX and NV10 owners as those drivers arent supported, surely bethesda knows about these issues by now, but not bothering to fix it, these Wolfenstein games are the only ones that i have issues with, all my other OpenGL games, old and new plays perfectly fine, Rage that also uses the idtech 5 engine doesnt have these issues.
