the developer's last game was a commercial flop that almost bankrupted the company. they were saved by Google, who had invested into their new game - Orcs Must Die 3 - but in return asked to make that game Stadia's (Google's platform) exclusive. it is either this or nothing
developers hinted that game will eventually come into Steam (and confirmed it once more time ~10 days ago on their Discord), but due to contract obligations with Google, they are not sure when exactly it will happen
Google Stadia is basically a streaming platform, you pay monthly (or annually) and can play any game from Stadia's library (aka you are given access to all games for month). but instead of playing those games on your PC - they are actually launched on Google's cloud servers and you receive an image/stream of the game. in theory it means that even with very low-end PC but with good bandwidth you can play AAA titles, like Destiny 2 with no issues in 4K quality. but eventually it all comes down to your ping, TTL and ISP overall
their other new game - Readyset Heroes - is Epic Store exclusive; but it is fair and just, because game is built on Unreal Engine and Epic Store (authors of Unreal Engine) gives developers a good revenue/split if game on that engine is released exclusively in Epic Store (much better deal than Steam can provide)
Makes sense now.
Stadia is dead to me, I have a gaming PC and 40 years of gaming, it isn't credible to pay for a gaming service to play on the sofa.
Put me down on the nothing list, I have 1000 games to play before I worry about Stadia.
And nothing isn't actually much more than we had with OU.
And I wouldn't have a problem with buying it on EGS, I am not a Steam foamer, I would just like to play more Orcs.
The OMD3 developers said that when exclusivity ends, the game will release on many other platforms, including Steam itself.

We expect the exclusivity to Stadia to be around 1 year, meaning the game will approach Steam users soon considering it launched there on July 14, 2020. It will come to Steam with all of its DLCs and updates. Let those Stadia users beta test it for us.
Google/Stadia funded the game, they can enjoy their 12 months of exclusive or whatever it turns out to be. When it's out on Steam, I'll buy it right away.
PC store exclusives are fine as it is up to you if you want to buy it or wait, but when companies like Google and Valve think they can lock their games behind whatever technology they want to push for their own agenda then as a consumer I will push back against this.
I don't need streaming server based gaming services when I have 1000 of my own games and a gaming PC with fibre, nor want a VR headset that was meh in the 1990s.
Agreed. In my opinion Stadia is a disgrace to any real gamer who owns his own PC.
They ask you to essentially rent the games and the PC that you will play the rented games on. Something a casual would do if he is bored watching things on Netflix or playing browser games on his iPhone.
Just be patient. OMD3 is coming to Steam soon, with all DLCs, updates, and testing.

Sounds like the news we've been waiting for.
It would seem without Google they were.
I very much hope there is more OMD, but they need to get back to 1 and 2, completely forget ever replicating UC and from what I hear 3 isn't what 1 and 2 are.
They need to take the essence of 1 and 2 and make 4(?), I am waiting for 3 and would always be interested in 4 anyway.
Biggest problem these days is you HAVE To have online multiplayer, something OMD doesn't really need outside of if you choose coop.
Worst case will be an OMD BR.
