Controller Issues - SOLVED
I have Turtle Beach controller plugged into my PC.

Windows identifies it as an X-box One type controller.

The issue I am having is that the game see it as pressing the "UP" direction so the character runs up and get stuck immediately in the prolog.

If I unplug the controller, I can then navigate the game with the arrow keys, but if I plug the controller back in the issue returns.

Searching the forums I see this was reported in the past, but I did not find a fix for this.

I shall play the game with the keyboard for now, but if anyone has found a way to correct this issue please let me know as I'd prefer to play with a gamepad for comfort.

Thanks in advance.

I downloaded their Turtle Beach Control Center application. It found that there was a Firmware update to the controller.

Loading into the game just now after that updated I am able to navigate using the controller.

I did not expect this to work as when I connected my PS5 controller it was off a fresh installation of software and firmware for those and it had the same issues.

Regardless, I'm just stoked to be playing the game!

I've tagged my subject line as SOLVED!

Heyo! Do you have steam input enabled? If so maybe try disabling it and see if it works correctly!

I've tried that. If I disable steam input then the gamepad does not work at all.

I'm about to take one of my PS5 controllers and plug that into the PC to see if it responds any different.

The first thing I'll get you to check, is if you have Steam Input turned on?
In Steam > Settings > Controller > External Gamepad Settings
Then for your own, you'll want to toggle "Enable Steam Input for Xbox controllers"
(and possible "Enable Steam Input for generic controllers")

If those are set, and it's still not working, we'll get you to check game-specific inputs.
I'm on my PC, so I can't speak to the Deck or BigMode.

With your Steam client open, select the intended game.
Tracing yours eyes left-to-right, move from the big green PLAY button all the way to the right (passed Cloud Status, Play Time, etc)
And there is a controller icon! From there you should be able to play around with both official and fanmade inputs, as well as customizing your own.

If none of THAT works. Then there's clearly a larger issue at hand.
Let me know how it goes!

It took me long enough to type my response that I now see you've already played around with the Steam Input!

Hopefully the per-game settings, or your PS5 controller help?

Unfortunately I have to report the PS5 controller also does the "walking up" bug.

For now I will just unplug it so I can play with the keyboard as I'm itching to play the game.

It might be worth checking if you have any other USB peripherals plugged in?
Things like your mouse and keyboard are unlikely to affect this.
But things like drawing tablets and (rarely) webcams can cause weird input issues!

I hope you have fun with it in the meantime

Wireless Mouse.

Keyboard plugged into USB.

Gamepad plugged into USB.

The only other device plugged into USB is my UPS (uninterrupted power supply). I did try to unplug it just now to see if it made any difference.

Hopefully someone else stumbles on what the culprit is as I've run out of ideas.

I rebooted the PC just to try to see if that would help as mentioned in the posts below.

That did not rectify the situation for me.

I then remembered I have a STEAM Controller and gave it a try but alas it too has my character stuck running UP.

So something with my PC hardware setup does not play well with controller and this game.

I shall see how far I can get playing on the keyboard.

Though Steam show me past 2 hours in game time only 25 minutes of that is actually playing. The rest of the time has been trying to figure out if I could get the game pad to work.

As much as I want to play the game I shall shelve it for the time being hoping a fix for the controller issues I am experiencing is found.

I shall periodically check in to see if anyone else experiencing this issues has managed to resolve it.

Thanks for your patience EDACRA!
I'll do my best to consolidate any concerns raised over controller support into a single thread, and hopefully we'll find a solution. Once we do, I'll be sure it's highlighted properly in the discussions
A developer of this app has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

That's wonderful! Thank you for both sticking with it, and for providing an update here!
I'll be sure to point anyone else this direction, should they run into similar issues :)

I'm so glad this was resolved, EDACRA! Thanks for playing!
