Flagged as a virus? Let us help!
There are a handful of anti-virus softwares that have decided they really dislike RPGMaker. Unfortunately Beloved Rapture is getting some of these false flags. We are attempting a deeper in-app solution, but it will take time and money.

Until then, I wanted to create a dedicated thread to helping people get the game up and running on their PC. I'll added fixes as they come up. For the most part, it'll be a matter of telling your anti-virus software to ignore the program/files (or if you're able/comfortable, disabling your anti-virus software)

Install location
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Beloved Rapture\BelovedRapture

Norton
We are attempting to gain Whitelist status with Norton. If you were flagged, please let us know the given "Detection name" (optional) and the Alert ID (required!)
The Alert ID is located at the bottom of the detection alert popup.

If you wish to resolve this immediately on your end:

Flagged Files
My Norton > Settings > Antivirus > Scans and Risks
> Under Exclusions / Low Risks, click one of the Configure [+] options, and use the window that appears to Add Folders or Add Files, excluding the Beloved Rapture install folder.

Deleted Files
If Norton is instead deleting the files before you can even download them you'll need to access "Download Intelligence", set a specific folder to be excluded, then attempt the download again.

McAfee
There is a button in the left hand bar that looks like 4 dots arranged in a square.
This is the "My Protection" tab > "Device" > "Real-Time Scanning"

Under "Excluded Files", click "Add file"
Select the "BelovedRapture" Application file to be excluded.
If this doesn't do the trick, repeat the prior steps to also exclude the "RPG_RT" file(s).

Game won't even open
I have redownloaded the game a few times now and keep getting a message when i try to launch it saying the EXE is missing. It is a longer message but thats the jist of it. I don't know what to do and can't find anyone else having the same problem.

Had to go into task manager and force close Norton, then reinstall the game and it worked. For some reason it was flagging just the exe file for the game and preventing it from installing.

Have you tried setting exceptions for the game/files?
If you're willing to hop into the discord, we/the community should be able to more easily help you in real time :)

Hey. I'm also getting the virus issue. When I first time I clicked the play button and got the bug the message said:

Failed to start process for this game : "Operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus or potentially unwanted software." (0xE1)

The second time I clicked the play button, I got this message:

An error occurred while launching this game : Missing game executable - C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\BelovedRapture\BelovedRapture\BelovedRapture.exe

If I click the play button again, I just get these same two messages in the same order. I'm not terribly tech savvy, so I'm strggling to make out what to do from the other posts. Any chance someone wouldn't mind offering extra clear and detailed instructions?

I never got the first message, but the second meant (for me, using Malware Bytes and Panda Antivirus) that the game executable (BelovedRapture.exe) had been flagged as a virus and, as a result, had been quarantined by my AV software.

If you don't have any of these AV programs, maybe your executable was deleted by Windows Defender or any other virus protection you may have.

Ok then. So how do I fix the issue.

If it helps, I believe the anti-virus software I use is McAfee.

Sorry if I sound like an idiot, but I'm totally clueless on how to start fixing this.

Which specific antivirus program(s) do you have? We can troubleshoot from there

Ok! I'll try to help you work through their exclusion steps. I haven't specifically troubleshot McAfee yet, so we'll see how this goes.

1. Open McAfee
2. There is a button in the left hand bar that looks like 4 dots arranged in a square. This is the "My Protection" tab
3. Under "Device", click "Real-Time Scanning"
4. Under Excluded Files, click Add file
5. You'll need to navigate to the games files on your computer.

If you're not certain where it's installed on your computer, then follow these side steps.
A. With your Steam library open, right click Beloved Rapture in the left hand list
B. Manage > Browse Local Files > Open the Beloved Rapture folder
C. This folder should have all relevant game files. You can copy that folder hierarchy right from the explorer

Back to McAfee
6. Select the "BelovedRapture" Application file to be excluded.
7. If this doesn't do the trick, repeat the prior steps to also exclude the "RPG_RT" file(s). Hopefully step 6 by itself does the trick.

Please let us know if this works for you!
