Flagged as a virus? Let us help!
There are a handful of anti-virus softwares that have decided they really dislike RPGMaker. Unfortunately Beloved Rapture is getting some of these false flags. We are attempting a deeper in-app solution, but it will take time and money.

Until then, I wanted to create a dedicated thread to helping people get the game up and running on their PC. I'll added fixes as they come up. For the most part, it'll be a matter of telling your anti-virus software to ignore the program/files (or if you're able/comfortable, disabling your anti-virus software)

Install location
...\Steam\steamapps\common\Beloved Rapture\BelovedRapture

Norton
We are attempting to gain Whitelist status with Norton. If you were flagged, please let us know the given "Detection name" (optional) and the Alert ID (required!)
The Alert ID is located at the bottom of the detection alert popup.

If you wish to resolve this immediately on your end:

Flagged Files
My Norton > Settings > Antivirus > Scans and Risks
> Under Exclusions / Low Risks, click one of the Configure [+] options, and use the window that appears to Add Folders or Add Files, excluding the Beloved Rapture install folder.

Deleted Files
If Norton is instead deleting the files before you can even download them you'll need to access "Download Intelligence", set a specific folder to be excluded, then attempt the download again.

McAfee
There is a button in the left hand bar that looks like 4 dots arranged in a square.
This is the "My Protection" tab > "Device" > "Real-Time Scanning"

Under "Excluded Files", click "Add file"
Select the "BelovedRapture" Application file to be excluded.
If this doesn't do the trick, repeat the prior steps to also exclude the "RPG_RT" file(s).

Would love to try out your demo
I saw some of the trailers for this game, however my anti-virus program considers your game to be a huge virus so it won't load the core files to load the fully. Hopefully if there is an update in the future, that doesn't happen again.

Hey Ryu.
Thanks for your support, and I'm sorry you ran into that problem.
Yeah, the engine we used has an unfortunate side-effect of being false-flagged by various virus software. I shall chat with the publisher about getting you a private copy that hopefully resolves this issue. :D

Thank you for getting back to me about that, that would be helpful
I also ran into this issue. Any word on a fix coming through?

Norton detects a potential threat in the Demo file
Norton has detected and deleted a potential threat on my Windows PC: A potential threat "Neur.AdvML.B" was detected based on malware heuristics

D:\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Beloved Rapture Demo\Beloved Rapture Demo.exe

Could someone check the file "Beloved Rapture Demo.exe", maybe with his virus scanner or Virustotal? The file was deleted in my case. It could also be a false alarm.

I have notified the developer Aaron Crawford by e-mail today.

That can sometimes happen when the RPG_RT.exe has been renamed.
If it is in the quarantine, try to allow Norton this file.

As far as you have downloaded the genuine Demo 3 of this game, the exe is not a virus.

Those who use G-Data: for me it was impossible to change the rules for those renamed RPG_RT.exe.
The developer had to help me.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention! We'll have to play around with the files to see how it can be avoided. Thank you Firefly for the suggestion! We'll start searching for the source of the issue there :)

This happened to me too when I tried to download the demo today. A buddy of mine said it happened to him today as well.

It didn't happen for me. I hope you all get to play the game. After the prologue, I couldn't even move the character because they were stuck in the top right corner of the screen.

Talking with some in the RPG Maker community, it sounds like updating the "Maniacs Patch" would fix these false anti-virus flags. Unfortunately none of the official Maniacs exes are compatible with our game, and will need to be completely rewritten.

This is a solution that we have underway! Hopefully we've mitigated a lot of this false-flagging already? But it's an ongoing effort. Thank you for your patience!

I also have that problem, but not with the demo, but the full game :(
hope you can fix that problem soon, i was really looking forward to the full release.

edit: i could solve the problem by telling my anti virus software to ignore the file! :D

Thanks for the update. I'm glad the fix was so simple!

There were definite concerns that this might crop up with the full release...
Certain anti-virus softwares *really* dislike RPGMaker2003

We have a contingency plan to hopefully eliminate the problem if needed. We only haven't done it now, because we know it'll be a little pricey to execute.

Bug: Failed to start due to potential virus
Good day, I just got a message after installing the game.

"Failed to start process for this game: Operation did not complete successfully because the file contains a virus or potentially unwanted software."

I'm a big fan of Pixel Art RPGs and was excited to try out this new game.
Oleran Oct 8, 2024 @ 9:30am
MY antivirus also deleted the main EXE after install, hopefully we can get some clarification on this.

I've merged everything into one post, and added steps to help exclude files from Norton's false flagging.

If everyone could please let me know which anti-virus software they're dealing with, we can attempt to solve them one-by-one!
