no lincoln
(Edit: To be fair, leaks don't actually confirm any cuts, but that's realistically just cope)
Plus cutting out Catdog, Lincoln and the others on the list as the sole reps for their respective cartoons is just a bonkers decisions.
Honestly, if this many characters are getting cut, I might not pick this game up after all.
Lincoln is not the sole representative of his show, Lucy is confirmed to be in NASB 2
As for the turtles, it makes sense not to make the entire roster TMNT characters, other shows deserve reps too. That being said, you'd think they'd be easier to make given they have a base to begin with.
Still, not like they're cutting characters just for hoo has.
Lincoln Loud isn't the sole rep, true, but he IS the lead character for the show, same with Catdog. It would make more sense to drop Lucy over him, but I guess they feel that Lucy is more popular. But to rephrase my previous statement: I can understand supporting characters getting removed, but leading or sole rep characters getting cut doesn't make sense to me
And if you really want to say that adding four turtles is too much: Right now, SpongeBob has four characters representing it's show (SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward AND Plankton), while TMNT only has three in NASB 2 confirmed as of now (Donny, Raph and April). I don't think adding two more turtles is going to bloat the roster that much.
It's not like we are living in the early days of modern gaming where there is a limited number of characters slots available due to disk space or whatever. They can virtually add as many playable characters as they want. All they need is the time and effort to make it happen.
Personally: I just feel it's important that all TMNT turtles are present because they are an ensemble group. They are a package deal. They are always marketed together and rarely are they ever shown separately. I was able to give the devs and publisher a pass on the first NASB for only having Leo and Mikey due to budget constraints, but here I really feel like there should be no excuse.
Well its not roster bloat, it's time and money to create the characters. If they had unlimited of either, I'm sure we'd see the full roster back, there's no reason they would want to cut anyone out. They're still on a budget, and they need to deliver new stuff, they can't just bring all the old reps back and add nothing new. Their budget is higher but they focus more into the actual game than just the characters; all they had last time was just the characters, and NASB didn't stay strong enough. It sucks but there needs to be some reason here, these guys ain't Smash Bros, they ain't getting the budget nor time like Smash did, and Smash bringing back its entire roster for the first time was impressive (and I wouldn't be surprised if Smash never got to do that again unfortunately)
As for Spongebob vs TMNT, well Spongebob is bigger and they also got a cut. If Spongebob is only getting 4 reps, which appears to be the case, then yea I don't think it's realistic to expect any other series to get more reps. That being said, I do agree it's a little weird to only have 2 of the turtles, but hey, if this game series gets bigger, there's always next game.
Well with Hugh, I never got to play as him because I never went back to NASB 1. That was a bad cut. Helga, I don't know why they replaced her with the character they did (it's not the Grandma), that one is still strange to me.
