Not lore accurate
I saw a lot of issues in the trailer.

Seems my post attracted a lot of bots but in the trailer there were quite a lot of elements not found in the lore regarding the shire and the hobbits. So its clear the devs decided to do their their own thing with the IP because they wanted to or were pressured into it.
Can you cite what you think that isn't lore accurate?

Many of the decorations shown have absolutely no business in the Shire. They have nothing to do with Hobbit customs.
EDIT: same goes for the modern colored clothing. There was no hot pink in the Shire.

Hobbits are not described as having to waddle when they walk. What were the devs thinking? They look like toddlers learning to walk. Embarassing choice.

Golden blonde hobbits should nearly not exist. It was incredibly rare, and Elanor Gamgee was one of the only Golden Blonde hobbits. This is because of Galadriels gift to Sam.

Stone raised garden beds are not lore accurate as hobbits did not make constructions from stone or metal. They burrowed or made wooden structures. Very rich or very poor hobbits lived in Holes.

Hobbits, and their ducks, would not wear iron helms. As the Gaffer says, "I don’t hold with wearing ironmongery."

Hollyhock is shown growing indoors. This is an outdoor perenial plant and cannot survive indoors. All hobbits know this.

I could keep going with the poor design of this game just from the 2 minute preview, but you dont actually care. Youre gonna play this pile of insults anyways.

Only Rings of Power fans would like this game.

OP It's the current year... You should have known this wasn't going to be the loving continuation of western folklore Lord of the Rings but "Amazon™ Lord of the Rings®" as the Shadow of Corpor and its Uruk-Sumers stretches long over the land.

As for anybody saying shove it, or that we shouldn't have these opinions, or that it's shameful or that we aren't actually lovers of the source material... This will be deleted I am sure but until then I hope you read it and internalise it. Nothing you say will make us stop, your bitter words attempting to shame us are meaningless as we see you for what you are. You were us once, taken by the dark powers, your minds shaped and your bodies mutilated. A depressed and miserable form of life. Maybe when we have cast down your masters we can extend a hand down and lift you up. Many of us were like you once, after all.

But, until then, we will not cease. These are merely soft preambles and worded duels to a coming and truer fight that you cannot stop or shame and snark your way out of us even engaging in. If we are so lame why do we need to be quiet? You could point to us and laugh. If we are so weak why should we not fight? You would win. Methinks the effeminate doth protest too much.

So, I hope you are prepared to fight this in earnest as opposed to the soft version of it you've been waging all this time social violence is violence. cultural violence is violence..
As while you have marched far and taken much your march will end. Not on steam, not on a moderated Microoglzon iThing streaming the Prime Store but the place where all final decisions are made.
A day will come soon. A sword day, a RED day, 'ere the sun rises. For ruin and for this broken worlds ending! Forth Eorlingas!📯

So. Wihtout providing any point, I'll reckong that means that your statement is baseless.

If you know the lore or even just watched the trilogy you would know whats wrong. I don't need to provide anything.
The movies take a lot of liberties with the source material. Lots of irritating additions, changes and removals. There are big issues with all the Peter Jackson films. Are the LOTR films good? Yes. Are they generally good at recreating the world? Yes. But the movies aren't close to 100% lore accurate, especially The Hobbit trilogy.

Someone mentioned the ruining of their beloved franchises. The LOTR rights are shared variously between four companies... good luck getting consistency. But that's life. Anyway, the source material will be always be untouched source material. You don't have to like any of the adaptations... you can go read the books and not feel anxiety over a movie or game or tv show. It's easy.

As a Tolkien fan for 40+ years, I'm more interested in a good game that is largely accurate. I really don't understand the obsessed griping about the freaking beds or ducks or hair color. Expecting everything to be 100% lore accurate is unreasonable... the movies aren't, the games aren't, none of it is except for the source material. And anyway, you're in the minority of people if you're upset about the wrong plant growing in a house. how about just ignoring the game, lamenting that it doesn't fit your demands... and getting over it.

Say what you want, it's fine. But really... Please tell me that this is satire. If not... wow.

You know I thought it would detract from my final rousing message to put at the end of my post in a spoiler "in b4 somebody both says that I'm not 'a real fan' like them but then somehow calls me a nerd for caring about LOTR". But then here you are!

You should have used more mindless buzzwords. Like throw in a "the women" and "woke" somewhere in your fanfic-tier blogpost.

same why bother acquiring the rights to LOTR if you're not going to lift a finger to make it lore accurate

There hasn't been a "lore accurate" depiction of Middle Earth ever made outside of actual works by Tolkien. The spirit of the lore has been captured in some works but if people are here arguing that the game shouldn't be done because it isn't lore accurate then we would never get any Middle Earth games.

Basically what Supahz is saying in this post is accurate. If we don't give some artistic license to creators we will have nothing. Like many I've read all the books, several times and I get irked when I see ♥♥♥♥ that is not lore friendly. Like Jackson having Arwen come get frodo instead of Glorfindel. The scene captured the spirit of the lore, but it still wasn't glorfindel, lol.

I don't know if I will play this game or not when it come out. I play almost every game set in ME so most likely yes but I have reasonable expectations, lol.

♥♥♥♥ game, and sad that Weta Works puts their name on it, they must see themselves that this is a hot pile of garbage.

Complaining that SIMPLE HOBBIT GAME is NOT LORE ACCURATE had my dying out of laughter. Comparing it to multimilion, "ambitious" TV show called RoP is so dumb, too. This game may not be lOrE aCcURatE, but guess what! Jackson's adaptation also isn't and it's still called the best movie trilogy ever by many. Expecting that somebody will physicly take sentence by sentence from the books and put it in some kind of graphical representation is absurd, ESPECIALY IN THE GAME ABOUT FKING SHIRE WHICH YOU PLAY TO RELAX. Yet still there are people like you crying out and picking every single detail they can to call it a piece of garbage. Wake up or grow up cornflake, real world isn't a fantasy, you ain't gonna get the perfect game that is gonna 100% suit your vision. The best part probably is, that there still would be people that'd call your version not lore accurate as well, because you can only complain. And no - I'm not RoP fan and (probably) never will be and still im gonna check this game out, if it's garbage it's garbage, but you people are just sad.

I like hobbits, the landscape they live in and the cute style of architecture. In a game of this type, I have absolutely ZERO interest in small deviations from Tolkien's original work. I WANT THIS GAME! As quickly as possible.
The pedantry of all the fanatic fans of any franchise has always been ridiculous to me

I think Tolkien would be far more chill regarding these topics than these internet knights fighting as if they had to defend a fantasy authors honor from pink dresses and blonde hair.

I bet Tolkiens worst Nightmare would be the Barbie Movie.

This is what happens when art directors either don't care about lore or want to apply their own worldview on a world with literally thousands of pages describing it in great detail.
So what's the point of this game using the LOTR IP if it only loosely uses it? The developers could have saved money and called the game something else and it wouldn't have made a difference.

So lets say they did that, had Halflings and had you dress up a halfling cavehouse that looks like the ones from LOTR, had locations named the way they are named as in LOTR etc.
Then people would swarm and complain they copied LOTR and infringed copyright.

Theres no pleasing people like you. Using the license has you whine about them not needing the license and not using the license would have you whining about them needing the license.
Pointless argument with pointless people about pointless topics and hypocritical stances.

Its a good thing this is a video game and not an actual Shire filled with hobbits then. Great thing about video games is that they can be whatever they want to be and exist in whatever world the developers feel like creating. If the pink bothers you or the animals etc because they dont represent real concepts its easy enough to avoid
