Cannot load XBOXgamepad.mfx
This object might need an external program or library not installed.

Not sure why I keep getting this error, can't even load the game up at all. Tried reinstalling, tried reinstalling direct x, tried verifying cache integrity, tried googling and the only thing I could find was someone saying to reinstall direct x. No idea what the heck I can do.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cant open te game (getting and error)
Hey, so I was able to run RBS fine on my old PC... but on my new one I'm getting this error after I try to open it:

"Cannot load XBOXGamepad.mfx. This object might need an external program or library not yet installed."

I have installed DirectX, Installed and Re-installed my 360 Controller drivers. Nothing seems too work. What do I need to do to open this game?

Hi! We're aware of this one and we're already chasing it up. It's quite a rare one, but some people have had luck reinstalling DirectX. Do you have any additional controller drivers or controller software running?

Same problem here, no xbox controller and no special controllers.

I'm aware of it and I'm already chasing up a fix (it lies with our tools).

not that rare apparently, I got this upon trying to fire it up for the first time. Using wireless 360 controller with a usb dongle adapter

I'm having this error too, very frustrating. I really want to play this game!
Also using a wireless 360 controller with a wireless usb adapter.

I do use a logitech and ps3 controller but neither of them are plugged in. As for the drivers they could be anywhere :/

I'm getting this using a wired xbox 360 controller.

We believe it might be caused by not having xinput3_1.dll.

First try installing this> http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=35

I've also included additional DirectX installers when RBS is installed.

I've worked out a couple of solutions so there could be a fix soon.

2 days ago my game worked fine, after the update today I also get this error about XBOXgamepad.mfx
But after deleting the file xinput1_3.dll in the game's folder I got it to work again without error.

It's quite an odd little bug, some users need that file to get the game working, for others it can cause problems.
