Rotwood

Rotwood

Compared to DST bosses, how spongy for solos?
Hi, I'm kinda curious about this game (because Klei), But after trying a lot to solo play DST, even when I love the game, There are too many balls for my lil' brain and hands. Even with the Mod to make Bosses less spongy I'm having a hard time (managing food, resources, temperature; health and sanity).
So, after watching some reviews, gameplay, and even playing one time A(one or two "rounds") myself when it was very green as EA, Rotwood seems to be more about player abilities (and builds if you want to be a total God of war, super tanky, super fast or whatevs) plus having a roll button is always good in my book.
Basically, trying not to make this biblical, How doable it's for a solo player with any build? ('Cause I guess it has some RNG element to it, being a roguelike).

If there was a post asking or refering to the same topic, I didn't find it. Yes it was one about solo players but without this DST bosses point of reference.

Sorry if my English is not the best and you end up not getting half of what I'm trying to say xD.

It depends.
If you're used to DST raid bosses, this isn't that.
If you are appropriately geared you will take down bosses reasonably fast even without a single damage power.
Early on you will kind of want damage powers though because your gear damage options will be rather weak but as you progress you unlock some completely outrageous stuff.

Like +100-200% damage without any power. At that point things just melt. I'd say it's less about having enough damage and more about not taking too much.

How about the gear you can get? Is it enough variety? I'm thinking from a Roguelike point of view, I don't know if it works like that (or if you're supposed to craft it). I'm asking to know how likely it is to get/craft something useful to overcome whatever obstacle I could encounter.

I'd say the gear will give you a baseline, there's quite a few things you can go for, especially if you play co-op there's some spicy options.
There's some late game options that will clearly just run through all the easier content of the game, but if you are okay with having a bit more run variety you can totally go for the "weaker" but also more interesting options.

In general (apart from the clear outlier) you'll get way more power from in run synergies though, so any obstacle can be overcome by getting lucky (typical roguelite stuff).

Of course even worst case you can just upgrade your gear to the max possible for your progression and you'll do fine.

There's some clear stinkers that will do nothing unless you have a very specific build, but yeah there's a lot of options.

Thank you very much! I'm gonna give it a try
