Proto weapons say they break on death. Does that mean going down at all or does that mean failing a hunt?

Also, I randomly joined a public match and got a super frenzy 4 imbued heart before I had it unlocked. Now I have it unlocked and it still says that SF 4 has a stone available. Bug? Additionally, I already have that weapon maxed, is there any other use for imbued hearts atm?

proto weapons break in a group setting when everyone dies. if you die and get revived, you keep your proto weapon.

if you complete a higher super frenzy then what you already completed, it will just count towards what you haven't completed.
winning a sf 4 hunt when you only completed sf 1 and would have to complete sf 2 next, you will get the imbued heart for sf 2 and so on. there is no skipping allowed.

imbued hearts have no other purpose than to upgrade and create boss rot weapons at the moment, if you have spares that means you can upgrade other weapon types besides your fully upgraded weapon.
