Why cant I change difficulty?

I just came back after a long while and I'm forced to play on a hunt level 10 for rotwood and it won't let me change the difficulty or frenzy or anything at all.

In the recent patch, there was a change to it - and you can read it in the patchnotes.
Basically, the regions now come in chunks. Frenzy levels don't unlock immediatly anymore after you beat an individual region. So, you need to beat all of the first 4 regions once, before the Frenzy levels get unlocked for all these four. Same then for the next 2.

Personally, I found that a bit weird. It's probably done for some balancing reason with the drops.

You have it set to Super Frenzy; you need to switch to regular Frenzy on the stage select screen by pressing Z on a keyboard or Left Trigger on an Xbox Controller (I don't know what the button mapping is on other controllers).

I've spammed LT and nothing happens. it says I need gear level 10, and I'm level 5 gear. It's totally broken for me.

Interesting. Sounds like you might have been accidentally locked into Super Frenzy when they changed the progression path for unlocking frenzy levels. Have you completed all of the first four hunts at least once (Great Rotwood Forest, Nocturne Grove, Blisterbane Bog, and The Molded Grave)? If not, try doing those other hunts; completing all four is the new requirement for unlocking frenzy levels on those stages, and I have a suspicion that unlocking frenzy levels will allow you to turn off Super Frenzy.
