what are some of the better offhands? and how do they work entirely?
last few seasons ive been trying different offhands and having complete different experiences sometimes. i figured that all the off-hands would be somewhat balanced. highest rift i made it to was like 130 and that was with "carnage of fire". i've tried Toxicity and only made it to ~95 and some others don't even make it past rupture 50 when im trying to grind my character. i try to stack everything i can for synergy and sometimes it's jut not effective. i've also noticed that alot of the offhands seem to have different base-damage? Toxicity seemed to be doing so much dmg out of the gate vs ANY offhand (excpet for dragon flame maybe). theres also the bit where i dont know if my off hand is scaling with my overall damage or just the modifiers. if i used my charged ability that does base 500% to 2000% but off hand starts doing 20-37m ticks when im just using the regular attack its like 5-10m but i dont know if its just the added base damage doing that from using the skill (500-2000%) or if its going off the higher damage number. theres also the %increase weapon damage stats for bows/2hands etc....i dont even know if they increase my offhand damage either. if i spec for pure weapon dmg%/weapon crit dmg% instead of the general base damage/crit/crit damage do they both stack ontop of eachother for the offhand because its being proc'd by my weapon? lets say 100% crit but 200% crit damage for bow, and 200% crit damage, would it equal out to 400% crit damage when it triggers my offhand?

I could have missed where it explains how offhand dmg is calculated specifically but i dont remember it ever saying as such except just how it procs. its possible i could be doing something wrong when building with offhands. it could be a case of some of them being better if you build for them specifically but some of them are already too op and are prefect for grinding (carnage of fire) without having to build heavily into the offhand.

I don't think they all work the same, interesting point in the offhand base damage being based off the white hit that procs it. I have to test this a little further, but the game isn't so popular that it's "solved." I've been self cooking all of my builds so far.

yeah. ive been trying to figure stuff out. it sucks its not that popular yet (hopefully when it fully releases it'll be gas). i think majority of people who have the game are waiting for when it officially comes out cause we'll have 1month seasons vs 1 week which is kinda annoying if you have a life. my schedule is always changing and sometimes only having a day or 2 to play and grind is kind of a turn off when it gets wiped as fast as i level it and can't test what i want to because of constraints. i saw like a lv 130 in a rupture 120 using a bow and i tried to copy something similar thinking bows were the way to go vs everyone going magery and being like lv400-600 and stuck on the same 10 ruptures. best i've done is like lv180 on rupture 115 but everyone else was over lv300 so i thought i was also cooking with my builds. hard to really know tho because theres so much information unknown on how stats REALLY work and what stacks with what. its almost like the "damage on tuesday" meme with some of the stat affixes on gear too. some seasons im forced to play a completely different setup because the drops and gear are so inconsistent; but i also don't know if its inconsistency or if theres better things to do to get/achieve what i want in less of a grind.

what I've found is flat damage is kinda king, I think the different buckets are weapon type dmg/flat damage>ele dmg>ability dmg as for tick damage crit I think it rolls the ability as a crit at the start and not the individual ticks, just from observation. On just left click I've had toxicity damage randomly jump to huge numbers for one particular pool. How the damage types multiply eachother is a bit of a mystery to me still but its best mixing. Boss damage also seems to be its own bucket because it cranks the damage up.

yeah ive noticed sometimes when i used carnage of fire, it'll start doing like 200-300mill, then out of nowhere it jumps to over 550mill ticks. it seems like once you have 100% crit, anything that adds crit damg% spikes your combat rating, but if you have like 500% fire damage bonus, it doesnt attribute to it. so i would have to spend forever trying to figure out if its better to add more ele% dmg or critdmg%, hypothetically: theres a mod that gives you 5% ele damage per 1% crit over 100%. i wouldn't really know if its better to lose 50% crit damage for 100% fire damage.
