And when you've upgraded, the level lvl 1 enemies die in one hit. Wouldn't feel as an upgrade if they died in one hit from the start, would it?
Although the clunkiness of movements is there and is a bit annoying. Could use some input buffering.
Im 112% Steel Soul on PS4 and have 300+ hours of PC hollow Knight.
This game though? I wanted it so bad after the demo: Now it just sucks the joy out of life - so i ditched it.
I haven't played since before the recent balance patch (I had 100%'d the game already), but judging from what other people have said, it appears the above is still the case.
Yeah, I wish I bought it a month earlier - all the YouTube videos of Eternal Engine fight was about 1 minute. I'll be on Eternal Engine for 5+ and still lose. It's gotten insane after their latest difficulty "balancing" patch.
Against the pustulant prince, with wall climb you can literally wall jump off screen avoiding all his attacks. Combine that with relics that set him on fire and the soul/passive that auto regens void charges and you can repeatedly burn him and chill off screen till he dies.
Similar strat with Uut the screamer, DOT burn FTW. His red laser beams don't travel all the way to the end on the right, leaving a small safe spot where you can avoid damage and kill his ads while occasionally going in to burn him again.
There are also souls/passives that occasionally attack enemies for you so maybe other bosses can be trivialized too with the right setups.
I played on the latest update and didn't find any boss excessively hard that couldn't be beaten by trying a different strat/relics/loadout. I applaud a game that offers multiple ways to tackle a challenge (even if that way is cheesy).
I really can't unterstand how the combat can be hard in this game (except the case when developers added some patches...)
Maybe the initial balance patch overtuned them but with the December patch (most recent) they are fairly easy as long as you’ve been exploring and getting upgrades at all.
Thought the game was really fun and I’m looking forward to NG+.
