mole bugged?

It just happened to me that I entered a level for the first time and the mole directly digged a tunnel to the other side of the level. I guess it happened as I took a route which let me probably enter the level from the opposite side, leaving me starting that level at the "end". But ok anyway is this working as intended?

If it is a level on the easy route, the route to the right, and you are far with the story, then yes. I had the same happen to me on my first playthrough, but apparently that was intended when I asked the developers because I had already done some things for the story. (I took another route)

This happens if you have taken the alternate "harder" route for that section of the game and then go to the easier section. Because you have done the "harder" route, the mole opens up the easier route for you.

I think that's how it works, at least.
