Is there a way to sell stuff to the store or is it just selling pelts and fish?

It would be nice if you could sell unwanted items at the store. I mean, is this supposed to be historically accurate, or what? I seriously doubt that settlers would walk into a store only to be told: "Sorry, we won't buy anything from you but you're welcome to spend all your money here."

right? and only allowed to trade fish and pelts. I feel like it would be more realistic if you could sell your unwanted goods. And help me not feel wasteful lol
