So hey... for those of use who want to play through and through the journey... how about we not have to live through Little Mary being dead over and over and over. Can you come up with more modern story lines to encourage progress on the trail? Thanks!

I keep hoping there is some way to save her. I've tried various different ways, but haven't tried taking a physician as a party member--I'll try that next.

As far as I know, they just have her die no matter what. I succeeded on all checks, gave medicine, etc.

So you are telling me there is an event that happens every single play through and it's of a little girl that dies? That is a real bummer I thought this game came with a lot of variety for replay value.

pretty sure you can just pass them the first time instead of trying to help and you will never hear about them the rest of that play

She still died after i helped her at Soda Springs. As far as i tell, the only quest that has an "alternate ending" is Peppard's Folly in which you help his competition win over the investors. But all the other quests end pretty much the same to complete them (you dont need all the musicians so you can save yourself the headache of trying to fit all the instruments in your wagon, you dont need to save all the dragoons, you can convince the gunslinger to either have mercy or go for revenge, you can do the minimum for Mary or go all out and she'll still die)

I think little Mary is a tribute to all the children that died during this difficult travel, life was tough then... but this is a game, so I would appreciate if there was a way to save her!

Butterfly Effect Warning: If you remove the consistent death of Little Mary and/or introduce a way to actually save Little Mary, then there would never be the legendary myth of BLOODY MARY!!!

If you don't interact with the family, or pass up any part of the quest line by not talking to them along the trail, the quest ends, and at the very least, you don't have to walk by that sad little grave.

I know for a fact there's one where she makes it to Oregon with her family. On my first time all the way to the end, she survived. My second time through not so much. I'm not sure why though. I don't know if it's because I only interacted with them at certain points on that first round or what, but this knowledge is what made me seek out this question.

Maybe the Little Mary in this Game is connected to the real Little Mary (Last name Kelly) who died on this Trail RL?
Although the real "Little Mary" was killed by Natives at the age of seven, I believe, at Little Box Elder Creek in Wyoming on the Oregon Trail. She did not die of sickness.

I mean, those other people in the game, Samual Peppard and his Windwagon, or George Washington Bush have been real people too. That is real history of the Oregon Trail.
So I believe Little Mary is based on Little Mary Kelly.
