What strategy to choose as terran Commander
I have played through X2 (several years ago) and X3 Reunion jusr recently. I decided to jump directly to AP and started as Terran Commander.
AP is obiously little less forgiving than the previous games, and it was hard to break out of the Sol system in a Katana, but I made it.

Now I am a bit uncertain about which strategy to choose. Raid Argon shipping lanes and follow the "loose ends" plot or try to improve my status with the Argon, which seems to be very difficult as pirates are few and far between.

Another thought is that I could blow up Argon stations and replace them with my own. However, I need to collect some more cash for that.

Is it possible to capture stations like you capture ships with marines?

You can't capture stations without modding the game, no.

As for working your Argon rep back up, missions are not necessarily offered only by the race who owns the sector, so you can go look for missions offered by Argons in another race's sectors.

Attacking and destroying Paranid vessels in Argon space should raise rep with Argons. I'm currently using it the other way round.

First explore the Solar System with a fast ship (the M5 Valkyrie are very fast and stronger than some M3), then find the backdoor through a Xenon Sector to the Teladi East Sectors and start trade with this neutral race.

I have just managed to capture the experimental shuttle. yes capture. no stinking Teladi or Boron tells me what to do how to get it.

The shuttle does not have any shields so I am working teh stock exchanges to raise enough money to buy an ATF Aegir to transport the shuttle back to Saturn research station.

The Argons start to piss me off as they are preventing my movements at certain places. The Aegir will fix that.

good job on the shuttle ,Aegir how menny duz that dock and abit over kill 4 a return ship mish .

I have no idea how many ships can dock on an Aegir. It would be embarrasing if the number is nil =0)

I don't remember, but I got a hint where to find it.

I know this thread is old but I was able to work through some of this without patches or mods. You need enough rank before the story starts. To get through the Argon sector I traded in my game start ship with a Springblossom from the Albion Sectors. Jump drives are available in the Albion sectors as well. Once I punched through the war zone, I worked up my rep with the Teladi as they have the stuff I need for the missions.

Getting the shuttle is tough! Hard to find the goods the Teladi needs before he gives up the Experimental Shuttle. There is no Squash Mines to be found anywhere as there is no factories. Had to just keep working up my rep until I could build my own Squash Mine Fab. Mission promised over 2million for returning the shuttle but I got nothing.

Everyone is friendly except the Argons. Even the pirates don't bother me anymore cuz I sell the Squash mines to pirate stations. However now they want me to bring someone an Argon M5. WTH.. They blow up too easy and never bail. I can't find any Argon border sector that will let me dock much less trade. Border sectors next to pirate sectors are loaded with heavy ships so waiting around to frag a few pirates for rank ain't working either. Only chance I have is someone offering me to purchase a broke Argon M5. Was close once. Boron Ship Dock offered me an Argon M4.

Anyone whose worked the Terran Commander plot have any suggestions? No mods. Vanilla.

Someone posted a hint above in first reply actually. The rep boost you get from a mission has nothing to do with whose space you are in or who owns the station you got it from. Though destroying ships as part of the mission yields 'local' rep.

Its entirely dependant on the race of the guy you commed, and you can find plenty of argons usually in borons stations as they are pals. The reason most folks dont realise this is most station inhabitants in a given nation's space will be of that race, but not all, and once you hit higher ranks you probably wont be examining it closely enough to notice.

You can even get pirate missions in commonwealth space (seen this in xrm, not sure if pirates live on vanilla commonwealth stations)

Otherwise try cloudbase southwest and keep an eye for the odd paranid slipping through, its uncomfortably close to argon cores so it may be a bit hot for you.

Also remember that unless you end the war via the plot then the war sectors will always contain 'red' argons regardless of your rep with them. Its a hard-coded mechanic working both ways.

As a final note: if you have the hub then some creative linkage can provide a solution. IIRC linking something like cloudbase nw's northern gate to spring of belief or another paranid system down that way will produce high paranid traffic in CBSW going N to S for you to prey upon

I read the hint about the Paranid and went with it. Destroyed about 10 Argon M3's with no bail yet. Paranid don't mind at all. I'll try the Emperor Mines and slip through to Argon space after the Paranid does, frag him, and see if that works.

I got tired of my Paranid rep going to nothing killing paranid in Argon sectors and only getting 1-2% per kill. Went back to old save and started fragging Argon's until finally an M3 Nova gave up his ship. Left me his 3X25MJ shields too! Repaired it and docked it at the Shield Production complex that was asking me to acquire an Argon M3 and it's not accepting it.

Edit: Never mind. Have to be IN the M3 ship.

Don't have the HUB yet. That plot never came. Was mentioned in a conversation about Mahi Ma. Lost my M3 to Argon military hoard that happened to be in the vicinity of my "Kidnap Mahi Ma" mission. Glad I bought a bunch of Kestrals to protect me. Operation Loose Ends just started. Threw 4 missions at once at me. Sucks I lost my Jumpdrive in the M3 when I teleported to my Springblossom right before the M3 was fragged.

Never knew the war actually ended. Played with different starts but never saw the war end.
