Tips for a new player / trader
Hey

So in eve online i used to be able to mark down prices of different goods on an in-game notepad. Liking the game so far just it seems i have to keep track of prices on a piece of paper? Is there some in-game way to track prices ive seen? so if i dock in different places in a system, then move to another, i can quickly know if i can make some money moving a product somewhere else?

Also, when i see the wares that people want, i cant find a way to see how much they would pay for. Its not much use to see they want a space sandwich if i cant tell at what price i should buy it to make money selling it back to that person who wanted it back when i docked at his station half an hour ago

Did you get the best buy/best selling locators and trade extension software? With those items and some advanced sats placed throughout the universe you can pretty much check from the system you are in to any other systems where satellites are to see what the best buy/sell options are out there.

Did you watch CDRDave's X3TC tutorial videos on youtube yet? Did you read the x3 for dummies guide above or in the X3TC guide area?

X3TC and X3AP are close enough in general game play that learning one will pretty much help you learn the other, though there are a few upgrades/changes in AP.

Yeah figured out the sat TES thing by reading online a bit. Now im wondering if i can order my discovery ship to buy stuff for me? Or if im not piloting it i can just move it around? (edit: figured that out)

Im having Will ferell merchant guide in the background as i play to help me grab a bit of starter info while im playing.

One thing im hung on, is i cant check the prices at which people are buying stuff. Like i said, say im docking somewhere theres a bunch of people wanting stuff, but i cant see for how much they want to buy it for, and so i cant make a note of it and buy it somewhere else if i see it at a good price.

Also when you see the trade window in a station, i cant tell which items they are buying or selling. Like i sold and bought stuff but all names were in white with no seeming indication if they wanted to sell or buy that item. So although i can see the names of items from afar with my extension upgrade, i still have to dock to see wether they are buying or selling them. (I think i figured this one out, resources = they build with it and products = they sell it?)

Do we ever get to learn about the planets and suns and ♥♥♥♥ lol. I like this game already but it kinda feels like it could be a hardware store simulator where you buy low sell high. Im old school so i loved games like starflight where planets had different gravity, atmosphere composition etc... gave each planet a personality more than just a pretty background for space structures. Its good enough as it is, but i would love a little info on each planet to feel like im really discovering them. Or have them give resources that you can interact with like eve online moons and planets

Thanks for tips

There aren't any planetary exploration options or information really. The only information you would get is on the main galaxy map where you can click on a sector and get a bit of history/information on it.

Make sure you have the best buy and best sell software installed on your ship (Pretty sure you can purchase both at most teladi places as well as Terracorp HQ). Then, you can click on a sector and check what is selling for cheapest and buying for best price (it only counts items in your inventory though).

Happy trading.

Sure hope they think about this for xrebirth or its expansion, game is fun but could use some interaction with planets, theyre so pretty, its begging to be fleshed out more.

Thanks again for tips!

Im used to playing eve online, now i gotta buy a new hauler in legion something. But im thking ill have to kamikaze my way in as i got engaged by pirates when i took a look see. So what happens to the ship i came in? In eve you can come back "naked" (in a super small ship) to drive your other ship back later on.

If you drop a satellite in a sector, you'll be able to check the prices there at any time. Navigation Relay Sats are sufficient for that purpose, while Adv. Sats give you more vision (which is mostly useful if, say, you've got a station someplace and are interested in watching for pirates). If you commonly use a particular route, make sure you've got it studded with sats, and you'll be able to check if, say, Stott Spices are nice and cheap before you jump to Boron space. It'll cost about 6k per sector, but gotta spend money to make money.

Also, there's an in-game encyclopedia available through one of the millions of ungodly nested menus. In it, you'll be able to find the standard descriptions of goods (as if you'd run an info query on them), which will among other things show you the high and low prices. Have fun navigating it and take a drink every time you can't make sense of why a particular ware has been put in a given category. You may want to bind the encyclopedia, as it's quite handy for things like checking ship stats if you're looking to buy, etc.

Hope that helps.
