However, I'd love ot know if TECGS SCS script still works - I love having my Aran ;)
But know, I lay LU vanilla, because I dont what to put so much time in a game (as you know) and then start all over again because some script is breaking the LU mod, even if you don't notice it. But if you check Tecgs SCS on egosoft forum, they did want to make it compatible with LU, but I don't know if they can do that. Because LU really change a lot, and even does not support the official bonus pack.
But after a while I am just fine to play it vanilla know, don't miss anything, and still much futures are comming to this mod.
maybe I can help.
Just copy your x3 to another destination. It has to be a clean x3ap without the bonus pack.
Then install 1.4.0 in the teran conflict dir you just did copy. Do not install in the addon directory.
Then install the 1.4.2 update in the same dir.
As last install the new soundtrack version 1.1.1 Know you all done. just start a new game.
You can also easily install new gui if you don't like the one you start with.
Just let me know if you have any problem.
I also recommend that you do not install any other mods.
Hope this helps.
ok so I got rid of the bonus pack it seems, by unticking it in DLC... about tot ry an run it after a reinstall
Hi,
It is normal that everything you see is installed in the addon dir. So that is not the problem.
I think you start the game with the normal x3ap.exe, and that is wrong.
Sorry I didn't mention that before, but I tough you already did play X3 with other mods.
So,
If you wanna play LU, you have to play it whit the “NO Steam exe”, and you can download that file by Egosoft.
I am afraid your LU game is allready damage by steam. If you still want to play LU, just do everything again, and download the NO steam exe from here:
http://www.egosoft.com/download/x3ap/bonus_en.php
Copy that one in the teran conflict dir, and delete the normal X3ap and TC.exe.
Just start with the no steam exe.
If you want to use mods, it is always best to use a fresh copy of X3 and use the no steam exe.
Hope this helps. If you have any problem to download the no steam exe just let me know.
then it crashes after the econd time it loads up the start screen.
Litcube did make yesterday a new "how to" installation on his site. Also the game has version 1.4.5 (small update so you only have to download 16 mb.)
Look here, and check the site, maybe there is something you didn't notice.
Because you starting a new game, only section A is important to you. Also read at the bottom of that page "Sure Signs Your Install is F*ck*d".
First look at this:
https://code.google.com/p/litcubesuniverse/wiki/CleanInstall
then this
https://code.google.com/p/litcubesuniverse/wiki/Installation (only section A for you)
LU is very simple mod to install, because it has it own installer.
So there must be something wrong, so check the list one more time. And after that do not forget to use the no steam exe.
Just let me know how it works out.
Because I can run the game in stock mode, an I can even run some of my saved games from a year ago ???. SO somehow steam is uploading my saves an other stuff to cloud I think.
This may be why I can not get a LU to work.
Every time I delete the MOD managaer program steam puts it back, an I have a feeling thats because at some stage I have installed those programs to setup MODS for me. (Yes I know they dont work with LU).
I have turned off cloud an also gone into Documents an deleted anything to do with X. deleted all copies of the game off my frive an even deleted the compressed files of XRM that I usually install.
So something is definatly wrong :)
"pck files in your ...\addon\scripts directory " <- no matter what I do when I first download the game, these bloody things show up before I run anything.
What do you mean with the mod manager? Do you mean the X3 plugin manager, if you do don't use it with LU.
First, you can make so many copy of x3 as you want, as long as you use the no steam exe.
I have 4 copy of x3ap at the moment, I have XRM, Battlestar galactica, LU, and the steam version of course. The only thing all these copies have in common, are the save game location, nothing else. X3ap has no cloud function in steam, your save games are in your documents/ egosoft folder. If you still want to use the older save games, just copy them to a other location, because as you know, you will start a new game with LU.
So the strange thing is, that when you say you copy a X3 from steam, that copy has no influence anymore with the X3 vanilla in your steam. But you have to use the "x3ap no steam.exe". otherwise steam will notice it, and will change all the files in your copied to vanilla game files again.
So at the moment you finish copying X3 there are off course the*pck files, because they are in the vanilla game. After you install Lu in the copied one, then the *pck files must be gone in the addon/script folder. So, check again if you install LU for the first time, that you install LU in the right X3. Because steam has no influence in the X3 you did copied. (again do not use the vanilla x3ap.exe, delete them directly)
So just to be clear, You do not play LU in a installed x3ap game, but in a copied one.
PS, even if you have the bonus pack installed, LU will override these files with the first time you install LU, so that cannot be the problem.
Also you can try this first. Just copy X3, put in the X3 no steam exe file. Log out of steam. And then start in the copied X3 teran folder the x3 nosteam.exe . If it everything goes well, you notice steam doesn't care, and don't ask you to login. If it does, you are in the wrong dir, or you not using the x3nosteam.exe
Just try, and don't give up, because it is a great mod to play.
Hope you can get it to work.
